How to join an alliance?

I am new to Larping but have been obsessed with fantasy role playing for many years. I am looking for a group in Pennsylvania where I can display my talents for magic! My skills with fire would be beneficial to any army.

Who knows where my sorcery can be of use!?

Welp you got this far which is good. this is the OOG or out of game area. Its a great place for this question. To get started you can email ashburylog@gmail.com. Ill send you a orientation packet. I also recommend checking out the HQ or ashbury site off the main www.alliancelarp.com page. It will give you links to the rule books etc.

Where are you from man? We have an event this weekend and could use another npc. (Non player charactrr) itd let you learn the game , visit the site and make friends. The best thing about this game is that if ylu have no friends whom larp. When you leave you will have 50.

I am from the Kings of Prussia. A historic landscape filled with merchants and trade the likes of which no mortal man can believe!

This weekend would be a fantastic time, however my obligations are filled with other trials and dangerous roads (I am taking my mom out to breakfast and need to get 2 suits dry cleaned)!

greetings and well met then. I know of several of our lot that hail from KoP as well. Like Kyle said, a great way to dive into Alliance LARP is by checking out our rule book which is available in both printed (available at http://alliancelarp.com/pay.php) and electronic versions (available at http://www.double-dragon-ebooks.com/sin ... 5404-652-1)

If you are interested in checking out our calendar of events and pictures from recent events, our facebook is a great place to check. Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/AllianceLarpHQ/ events: http://www.facebook.com/AllianceLarpHQ/events

Feel free to peruse all of http://alliancelarp.com as well to learn more about our game.

Ashbury is the in game name of the duchy where the headquarters chapter operates their plot out of. Each chapter of the alliance located in different areas, usually different states, has their own "continent" or kingdom or whatever that are seperated by "mists" which allows people to transfer characters between the chapters while allowing the chapters to run their own stories.

As Robb states above, "Ashbury" is the name of the duchy where the game for the HQ chapter takes place. Other chapters throughout the country have their own realms or lands with other names. All of the games take place on one "world," but are separated by huge distances. For logistical reasons, the only way to travel from one chapter to another (for example, from the Duchy of Ashbury to the Deadlands) is through the "mists," a magical nebulous kinda like a space "worm hole."

Each chapter may have many different realms within their own. For example, the HQ chapter has the Duchy of Ashbury which is within a larger kingdom which in turn is flanked by other realms and countries led by other politcal entities. Even within the Duchy of Ashbury, there are baronies and freeholds.

I think most people would agree that the best way to understand the game is to come and play as an NPC for an event. The cost is minimal and the fun is extreme, so it's a great value.

I hope this helps!

I feel that the best way to explain chapters is like McDonalds. Owned by different people but they all serve the same things, with a different flare. Sure they all server Double Cheeseburgers but the one in PA servers there's with Mustard.

I had no idea that it was such a "franchise".

Ivan Drake I thank you for panting such a vivid picture. I must attend a gathering soon!

It's not. I just try to explain it to people that don't larp. Hq (PA) runs a game that any one can play at. You can then take your character with everything that you learned and experienced and play some place else like Connecticut for example. Then take that same character and go play New Jersey, all while playing the same character, with the same memories, items, weapons, armor and experience (for the most part). They all play by the same rules but the story is different with different evil doers that want to take over the world.
