Hurray chainmail

I do a bit of chainmail stuff here and there in my free time. I mostly do bracelets and other jewelry bits, but I have a scalemail shirt I wear at another larp and I have a mostly complete aluminum coif I've been working on. Is there anything the chapter would like to see donated in the near future? I don't know if I'm up to making any full chain shirts anytime soon, but I can definitely make some smaller pieces if it's in relatively high demand.

Also, I've started work on a plate/chain shirt for myself (inspiration) and I was wondering if anyone on here knows of a good place to get relatively cheap 1"-2" wide steel plates. Someone on another forum suggested used 1.25" steel pallet strapping. Any actual roll of pallet strapping would be very expensive and would be far more than I need, so a junk source would be better, but I don't really know where to look.

If you are going to donate anything, I would say make it out of brass. NPC camp gets roughed up/abused and it is unlikely that there will be someone available to sand/oil the chainmail on a frequent basis.

I have had a brass chain shirt that I have had for 5 years now, and I haven't had to clean or do anything to it at all (I did clean it once tho to make it all shiny and stuff).
