Info on Items

I've been searching around for a while, skimming through different threads and such and I thought it would be easier if I just ask.

I'm searching for a few items and the best place to acquire them.

Currently I need as follows:
5/8" wall pipe insulator
Open Cell Foam(I've only ever seen online only)
Black face paint that doesn't run(I've already seen different places online, but is their one I can go to, and I could really use your opinion on brand)
Elf Ears(again same as face paint)
The name or style of belt that runs across your chest like to hold a quiver. (I just need the belt without the quiver so I can put my frogs on them, I like having blades on my back rather than hips)

I think that's everything I have questions on.

Thank You

http://www.mooncostumes.com is a great website for much of this stuff. I would highly recommend paradise cake makeup for black or whatever color you want. And depending on whatever style you want they have several elf ears.

If you need the open cell for weapon tip, just go to a craft store or a Joann fabrics and get upholstery foam. It's a little harder to cut, but it does the job well. As for the 5/8'' pipe stuff, just go to a Menard's or something. That's where I get mine.

Menard's should have the pipe foam, but just be warned that it is the kind that has a stick strip for attachment, and to watch the measurements, they put both the pipe size and the wall size on there. The last time I looked there it was in a kind of funny place, like an endcap or something. What I found comes in packages about 4' or so long.

As Gandeon said, Upholstery foam (Joann's, Michael's, Millend Textiles...) works.

I'd suggest Mehron's Paradise Makeup in combination with barrier spray. I'd PM Pyro272 or LostNation about what they used for setting powder on the black, I can't remember what they said.

I really like the selection of ears from http://www.aradanicostumes.com/. Just don't go with anything silly big. The small elf ears are the ones I use for NPC work; they stick on nicely and clean up well.

I'm not sure exactly what that is called, but a ring belt would work if all you're doing is putting frogs on it. Just be sure to take a sash measurement before buying.

Also, I wouldn't use a pool noodle unless you are desperate for something to use. I've heard they disintegrate pretty badly.

Say, what kind of weapon are you making? I have a spare longsword and a spare hammer that I could let you borrow for the events if you were using those. Admittedly, the longsword is a bit heavy, but it should be fine. It was the one I used for the last event, but I've made a newer one since that event, so I don't really need it.

I'm making a longsword & shortsword, for florentine. I guess if you could bring it just in case that would be awesome. I'm going out to eat for my sisters day of the birth so I'm hitting up a few places, hopefully dicks sporting has a water skin, I can't find the one I used to have. Time withers....

I'M OFF!!!!!!!

I'll make sure to bring it, then. I commend you're decision to longsword/short sword. That's what I do.

By the way, you can't use a longsword and short sword combination with Florentine. You need Florentine and Two Weapons in order to do that. Just makin' sure you knew that.

Yea, for what its worth I feel like there are two options for multi hand fighting styles. Either Shield, or Florentine/TwoWeapon. I really don't see Florentine as making much sense on its own. Part of the reason for this is just that daggers, the way our game works, are barely legal fighting weapons as it is.

Thanks for the clarification, and after re-reading both skills, it almost seems like florentine is useless, personally I would go with long weapons over short weapons.

I'm still searching for 5/8" wall thickness for the pipe foam, I could only find 3/8" with 1/2" rubber insulation.

Edit* I don't like double posting. I figure this, I'll use the 3/8" wall foam and double it so I still have the blade thick enough. I'll still request a location to get the 5/8" but until then.
Edit* I really need to remember to read first before posting, I must have misread how two weapon requires florentine to buy.

Don't double layer unless absolutely necessary. Check everywhere you can before resorting to double layering, which can make the weapon turn out considerably worse than if you just had a solid one layer.

Hrm appearently I was out of town too long to be able to lend any help here. I personally use paradise waterbased makeup for my Turtle from Mehron and have always been very happy with it. The foam takes some looking but you should be able to find it, just keep checking!

There is a great theater store in the cities...but i cant remember the name! I will get back to you as soon as I find out. As far as brand and the like, I would go with what Dave/Emily say, or contact Pyro/Lostnation... (Robbie/Josh) they have a good handle on it as well. I believe Ryan or David would know as well... (Duriyadel and Dreamingfurther)

Did you ever make your swords, or should I bring my extras? I have a long and short sword you could use.

I'd bring them regardless, we have a big influx of newer players and monster camp, while it should be sufficent, will be stretched this game to accomodate everyone.

Unfortunately I only had time to make one, and its a prototype. While I've tested it on myself and my buddy and it "seems' quite safe, I'll let the staff check it out. Like I said it was a prototype since it was my first Frankenstein.

So no. I didn't get to make both weapons, I would greaty appreciate the use of your "weapons" *wink wink*
