Investment

Knight
So there are other Dukes I would have invested. How do we do this. I simply speak in that windy hallway I take it? Speak to me that we may move forward. It is good to finally be invested. I am glad to see you have no machinations of a treasonous and treacherous nature recorded here that I must report.

Duke Robert Turnsen

Your Grace,
Eric Marsters is the gate keeper and crafter of this protected area of the dreaming. He has requested that he is the only one to state the name of a person for invitation, as a portion of his spirit was tied to the value during its creation. There was some unpleasantness that occurred recently as the request was not adhered to, but other can speak to the resolution as I was not at the proceeding that followed.

Eric told us the following once it was created. If I can be of another service please let me know.

"Welcome to the Wayside Dream Vault. If you can hear this message, that means your dreams are now protected from Kazzik. Remember - only what is said here is kept secret. DO NOT DISCUSS the existence of the Dream Vault any place in the dreaming. Face to face only.

This Dream Vault is being protected by a part of my spirit, so I ask that while here, you abide by the following rules.

Conduct:
- Respect the nobility.
- Respect the Guilds.
- Respect each other.

To get invested:

1. Post the name on the "To be debated" thread.
- This will give people a chance to give any reason why someone should NOT be invested. If you're not comfortable stating publicly why, please tell me privately, and your concerns will be shared anonymously.
- Concerns are fully up for debate, however, as this is my spirit protecting this Dream Vault, I have the final call.

2. Present the person to me at the next market day, with an enslavement antidote.
- Yes, this is mandatory. No exceptions.
- For those at the initial casting, please find me during the next market day you attend, and drink an enslavement antidote in my presence. Anyone who wishes to see me drink one, let me know, and I'll make sure you're there when I drink mine.

3. The person then will be added to the vault.

Remember - you are a guest here. Act accordingly. Attempting to add people to the vault without following these steps will be considered a betrayal of all those within this vault." ~Circle Master Eric Marsters

~Captain Aramis Seablade

Duke Turnsen,

Please let me know which nobles you wish invested, so I may reach out to them. I do not want to simply add people without speaking to them, as to do so could be construed as arrogant on my part, assuming their wishes.

Eric Marsters

I am well aware of the previous issues as I administered the fracas to conclusion. It will not be spoken of again, but know Marsters has no law making authority, thus they are suggestions at best. I am patient and will allow some due process on the matter of investment, if results do not come forth with I will bring resolution. Duchess Claire Sybil and Baron High Mayor Kender Hitchcock both have requested admittance at once. I will begin speaking with others I believe need admittance as well.

Duke Robert Turnsen

Hey Eric! I don't have a problem with His Grace Duke Turnsen bein' in the Vault and I don't mean to be mean to you or anythin', but you said that people that don't follow the steps for investin' people are considered to be betrayin' everyone else in the Vault, so right now, since you didn't follow your rules, you technically betrayed everyone in the Vault when you brought in Duke Turnsen 'cause you didn't follow Step 1 and put his name up for discussion! I'm assumin' you at least followed Step 2 and gave His Grace an Enslavement Antidote? Step 2 says No Exceptions, after all!

If you want people to follow your rules about makin' sure they bring up people's names for discussion before investin' 'em, it'd probably be a good idea if you do the same and make sure to bring up people's names before investin' 'em! It's like my Duke Raash told me: "Good leaders lead by example!"

Like I said, I'm not tryin' to be mean or anythin'! I don't even know if there's a way we're supposed to deal with situations when someone's bein' considered to be betrayin' everyone else in the Vault! I just wanna make sure things are bein' done the specific way they're supposed to be done if they have a specific way that they're supposed to be done!

~ Silp

Well put Silp.

Fredrick Crawford

Okay calm down Robert... Although I'd probably do the same.

Good point Silp.

Good Gypsy I do not proscribe to the vile rumors that your kind bring undead, nor do I have death squads round up and execute your people for being necromancers which ofcourse would be completely legal and even just if you did in fact bring undead. Thus I grant you respect, I would ask for the respect that I am due as a Duke. Thus next time, Your Grace Robert at the very least please. If not in fact your Grace Duke Turnsen, ect...If you require a lesson on proper feudal rank, rites, and title do to a boorish upbringing then please reach out to my cupbearer Cyn who will happily and at no cost educate you in the matters of manners and civility.

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

Okay. I kind of like you, weirdly.

Here I'll give it a shot, as I oddly respect you but also hate you. It's strange.

Calm down... YOUR MIGHTY WONDERFUL YOUR GRACE DUKINESS OF DUKES DUKE ROBERT.

But really, that's pretty good for me. Ask Cyn.

I probably will never learn to bow, but I'll at least try to call you Duke when I see you from now on.

-Radi

FYI, I'll never attend one of those sessions. I'd rather cast necromancy in front of everyone just to get out of it. But that may be my BOORISH UPBRINGING.

Nice try, Duke.

Not quite there but good enough, Thank you Radi

Speak with Cyn she could teach you much I think.

Duke Robert Turnsen

Silp,

The adventuring community spoke with its voice over the winter and decided I was no leader of theirs. That much was made abundantly clear to me, when a large number of adventurers decided to go to the Grand Councilors of the Earth Guild and have me stripped of my status as a Circle Master.

As for admittance - I had already spoken to Duke Turnsen about this matter. Elsewhere in the vault, and for the last year, I've spoken about protecting the nobility of our land. I even spoke to Baron Davis on the matter. Having a way to get word to Dukes and Duchesses is important, and Duke Turnsen provides that for us. Also, this will allow us to organize on a grander scale, as Kazzik has already laid waste to the Leaf Crown and the Ternian Empire, and we are months away from the destruction of the world.

So, Silp, if you want to call me a hypocrite, so be it. I have nothing more to lose, and we have mere months left until the world is destroyed.

Have a day.

Eric Marsters

I wasn't meanin' to yell at you and I don't think you're a bad person or anythin', Eric! I was just sayin' what I thought about how I thought we were supposed to use the Dream Vault, since I just wanted to make sure we used it the right way and didn't start gettin' lax and makin' mistakes! I'm actually excited about the idea of Dukes and other people gettin' in here now, since I've wanted to get my Duke Raash in for a while!

Sorry to hear that you aren't Circle Master anymore, Eric! If it makes you feel better, I'm not a Circle Master, either!

You don't have to listen to me if you don't want, 'cause I'm just me and not very important or anythin', but this is what I would do if I were you: If things were goin' really bad for me and I felt like everythin's gone wrong and we haven't got any hope left, I'd just take a few breaths, smile dashingly at myself in a mirror, give myself a charming wink, remember that I'm really good at Earth and Celestial magic (if I was you, anyway - If I was me, and I am, I would remember that I suck at magic but am really good at smackin' things from behind with my thwackin' stick), then go out and start doin' what I can to make the end of things better! After all, if the end really is comin', I'd rather spend it with other people and makin' the best of things rather than worryin', pullin' back to myself, and givin' up! Wouldn't you? If the end comes, you end happy! If the end doesn't come, you continue on bein' happy! There's no downside!

I know it's not always easy, but don't settle for an end where things are bad! Don't settle for a continue-on-bein' where things are bad! Everyone deserves better than that! I know things are lookin' bad now, but I know you can bounce back! I've seen the passion you can put into things, Eric! I've seen the excitement in your face when you achieve something! I want to see you put that same energy into makin' things better rather than givin' up! You might not be Circle Master, but that doesn't mean you still can't do awesome things! Don't do it for the adventurers that doubt you if you don't want to! Don't do it for the nobility if you don't want to! Don't do it for the Earth Guild if you don't want to! Don't do it for the Brotherhood if you don't want to! Don't do it for me if you don't want to! Do it for Eric Marsters!

Like I said, you don't have to listen to me if you don't want, 'cause I'm just Silp, but you're the one that calls me Speaker of Truths, Eric... Would I lie to you about this?

~ Silp

Your Grace Duke Turnsen,

My apologies on being so long in response to this dreaming thread- between Forgotten Hope and my position in Storm's Rest- my desk is nothing but paperwork at the moment.

I appreciate more than I can express your faith in me to be able to teach and refresh the courtly manners of anyone who may need it. Your Grace, that is high praise coming you.

However I do not believe any lessons are needed when it comes to the Romani, especially The Greater of their race. I have spent some time with them, Your Grace, and their amazing and vibrant life does not blend well with the rigidity of court life. They are a people upon themselves and usually have no interest in the ideals of courtly life. Their culture, in my observations, do not have the same levels or design as ours in Wayside do. They Are Familia and they view each other as equals- and those not Familia- well I believe , Your Grace, they pity us for not having the bells in our blood. But one thing they have is love and joy. They have freedom and they have a song in their blood that drives them to dance a path no one else can dance. At times this exuberance can rub our standards as disrespect- when in fact they are simply Romani. They would not actively show disrespect for anyone but they also believe respect must be earned. They are willing to work with just about anyone but will only let the chosen few deeper into their culture - those have earned the respect of the Romani.

I do not believe Banradi would benefit from lessons from me, Your Grace. In fact he and I have had several long conversations about Nobility and why humans show the respect the way they do to their Nobility. Through those conversations we have had , Banradi has learned why I believe an automatic respect is vital to Nobility and he explained to me how Romani view such things. He has show he is trying to understand my belief by observing Nobility and showing them he knows who they are. But he is and will always be Romani- a people who are their own, as allowed by His Highness King Grimlock. Trying to change a Romani is a fools task and I one would never take on.

That being said Your Grace, I would very much like to teach any and all who would like lessons on Courtly behavior and customs. With your permission and backing, perhaps I can organize a class and you may observe their final lessons.
I do enjoy ensuring proper protocol is followed by those who fall into the category of need instructing.

AHAHAHAHAHAHA! TAKE THAT DUKE "I EARNED THIS TITLE SO YOU SHOULD CALL ME THAT" (trust me that was the nicest thing I could think of plus I still called you Duke so you're welcome)

Also, as I believe somebody told me earlier, "Speak with Cyn... She could teach you much I think."

-Radi

Cyn - That was by far some of the most well understood (and fanciest) description of the Romani culture from a gaje I've ever heard. I appreciate it for I don't have the patience to explain it myself.

-Radi

I spoke from the heart, Banradi. I am glad my humble observations seem to be on the right track.

When you patience lacks, Banradi- please feel free to come have some of mine, I try to have plenty for everyone.

I probably won't, but thanks for the offer.

Your Grace Duke Turnsen,
I do not know either of your nominations personaly. If you can you please share a little about why each should be added to our numbers. Am I correct in asumming you will be looking to add all of the other Dukes and Dutchess over time as you have an opportunity to speak with them beforehand?
~Captain Aramis Seablade

My Dear Aramis. They are Dukes who have asked to be invested. Enough said. And Yes I will be making the rounds with those who should be invested in due process. Duchess Sybil rules Westwood and that is enough pedigree for her, I would explain the later as his title can confuse those not versed in politics, Baron High Mayor Hitchcock is the Duke of Gatik-his more unusual title simply a moniker of tradition and homage to his position in Gatik which is more a city state then traditional duchy when it comes to geographic and socioeconomic indicators.

Duke Robert Turnsen

Your Grace Duke Turnsen,
I thank you for you generosity in expounding on your selections for investment. I am still unfamiliar with all of the titles in Wayside as I was not born here. If Cyn does host a class I will do my best to attend.
