OK, well I'm going to start this off by saying that I am not a LARPer (I'm not judging), and if posts not related to this LARP aren't permitted here, i apologize.
Anyway, the reason I'm here is to gauge interest in the NY/NJ area in a game/sport called Jugger, which some of you may be familiar with it through the movie "Salute of the Jugger" or "The Blood of Heroes". Think Capture the Flag with boffer weapons. Recently, it has been gathering players in Denmark, Australia, and has a national league with 20+ teams in Germany. The reason I ask here is because the sport originally gained a following at a LARP convention in Germany.
Basically, each team has 5 players, 4 armed, 1 unarmed, and play on a small field with a goal on each end. The object is to bring the "Jugg" to the opposing team's goal. Weapons include boffer staffs, swords, chains, and shortsword/shields. Time is kept by a drum/boombox. Only the unarmed player may carry the Jugg. If a player is hit anywhere but the head, they must freeze for 5 drumbeats (8 if hit with a chain), and drop the Jugg.
