I spent some time turning the water off and draining the lines around 3pm on Sunday. I went up to the kitchen to open the faucets. What do I see? A HUGE mess. Tons upon tons of dirty dishes, including an entire pot full of dried up spaghetti. There was a bunch of food still in the fridge, including a gallon and a half of milk.
I work very, very hard at the site, both on work weekends and at events. I never really get to "just PC" as so many others do. I am constantly "running the site" as our several others. Is it really too much to ask for people to clean up their own messes? I am not your father and will not clean up after you. And if I was your father, many of you would be sitting at home grounded for several months. Sunday afternoon was truly ridiculous, irresponsible and outright negligient.
My solution was that I was going to put one more door on the kitchen and lock it up and only allow Faire Play staff to use it. Everyone should be thanking Rich Ditzler and Dan Lineaweaver for cleaning up a mess that WAS NOT THEIRS so people could continue using the kitchen. To quote Dan "I'll clean it up so others who didn't make this mess can still use it."
Are the people that did this truly so irresponsible and outright dismissive of the hard work and effort put in by so many others? Are they truly that uncaring and unthinking?
If you used a dish, plate, pot or fork and did not clean it, you really need to think about your actions and how they affect so many others.
I am extremely disappointed at our player base right now. I also feel extremely disrespected. The thousands of hours and tens of thousands of dollars myself and others have poured into the site so we'd have somewhere to play OUR game have been blatantly disregarded. Yes, you read that right TENS OF THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS...EACH.
We run Faire Play professionally, but it is not a money making venture for any of us. In fact, the owners end up throwing in money each year to keep it afloat. We are your fellow gamers and friends. Please do not continue on this course. And it's as easy as picking up your own mess and maybe just a tad more. That is all we ask.
