Note that the knives are too short to be used in combat in Alliance (but may be used for purposes such as cutting someone free of an Entangle, or delivering a Killing Blow). The items in the "Short Sword" category are the correct length to be Alliance daggers -- but not actually long enough to be used as our Short Swords (that's their "Medium Swords").
