Laws of the Land

On the Alliance Oregon page lists

  • Theft and Loss/Destruction of Property
    Assault
    Necromancy
    Treason

No mention of prohibited poisons, slavery, etc.

Are there any other laws that need to be known of? I'm working on a character background (I am planning on playing, honest!) and could use this info for clarificatin of a few points

Thanks!

Tom

Murder, attempted murder, slavery, & mind control tend to be frowned upon.

Thaks. so does that mean that slaves who enter or are brought in to the land are set free, or are they considered property if the proper paperwork can be shown?

Murder, attempted murder, mind control and slavery are all pretty much covered under "Assault". ;)

As a general rule, we haven't allowed most players to come from the land of the Golden Horn - they come from "elsewhere", be it Taneryn, Astoria, Gianerria, or some land of the player's own devising (with plot's approval). Part of the reason for this is the needs of the story (very much based around needing to learn the lay of the land and who are the white hats, the black hats, and the shades of gray in-between). At the same time, Landfall is a fairly close-knit community. If you've played at an event, you probably know everyone that is in town or have at least seen them, other than a few soldiers and travelers that have cycled in and through the area. Creating a character whose history is based on Landfall doesn't really gel well with the organic environment we've created - people will wonder why they've never seen you before, etc. At the same time, being from elsewhere allows your character to experience the newness of the local world at the same rate you, the player, do - you'll rarely (hopefully never) run into the issue of being asked a question about the local area and have to drop out-of-game and ask for information that it never occurred to us, the plot team, to consider, and you, the player, thought to ask us.

Feel free to drop us a line at oregonplot@gmail.com if you want to work out any specific history stuff. :)
