Leadership is needed

Lurin

Duke
Friends of Fortannis,

Already have I called out once, and I have heard the echoes across the dream realms, but not a single knight or noble has stepped forward to provide direction to those coming in barely a weeks time to confront the deadly threat of the Rakshasha. Myself and fellow merchants such as Bob the Blacksmith have already made our plans to attend known and have offered our services to those that will take up the mantle and lead. I have been to a number of lands where the nobility and knights made themselves very known, and have heard their assertations of protecting the lands and people from threats. I have never had cause to think that such an assertion was anything but the truth, but here we stand on the knifes edge of a painful, and large, war and their voices have yet to be heard.

This is not a manner to be taken lightly, and I would think all nobles or knights charged with the protection of their land would be taking an active hand in this, if not to lead, then to offer their council and support to few who stand at the head of the multitude in this manner.

In hopes that one who I might serve in the matter steps forward soon,

-Barrister Enan Bluewater of Wayside.

It has been demonstrated time and again that problems can in fact be solved by us poor common folk. Don't think too poorly of us good Barrister, it's our backs carrying this weight. If it's leaders you're looking for, I'm sure they will become apparent.

Good day, peoples of Fortannis;

I have but recently received the call to travel through the mists to Vandlar and discover what is to be learned there. I have my own reasons to be there, and will be examining the land for traces of my personal foes, but the threat of this Rakshasha cannot be ignored. Should direction be required, I am willing to step forward to combat this threat. I have no desire to usurp authority or step on the toes of those who are rightfully empowered in the lands we travel to, but a void of leadership must be filled else chaos ensue.

Let me introduce myself properly. Some of you I have met. Others I have corresponded with, or have heard about secondhand. Many more might never have heard of me. My name is Polare Lissenstine, once Polare Greenbear, and I have traveled to many lands over the last fifteen years. For the last three and a half years I have served as Baron of Keystone Village in Andar, and take pride in the security and prosperity of my people. Before that I served under Count Di'Orsini as Seneschal for many years prior, as well as Ambassador for the Kingdom of Andar.

Unfortunately, I have little experience in the lands we are to gather in. Should no rightful noble of those lands step forward, I will - with a heavy heart - take on the responsibility of leading the gathered adventurers against the threat of the Rakshasha. If this is to be, I would request those who have more direct knowledge of these lands to contribute their opinions and experience that a coordinated effort may begin.

I encourage others to ask questions, both of myself and those who know of me, should they be unsure of my competence and ability. I take no offense to those who wish to ascertain the character of those they would follow. While I would not compel obedience in a land in which I have no authority, I do ask that those coming to join the fight be willing to work with me so that we can ensure victory over those who would harm Fortannis.

Barrister -

Like the Baron says, it is no surprise that you have not heard much of the highborn of other lands on this matter. Making sweeping declarations about other's lands is often the sort of thing that gets taken as intent to invade, after all, and starting wars with places they can't even move major troops to thanks to the mists is poor planning.

That said, anyone local to the place having these problems care to elaborate on what's going on?

I signed my title gaje. I can think of places you can cram your gorgio honorifics. If you like, I'll demonstrate when I arrive. Your 'knights and nobles' can stay at home and grow fat on their taxes. I can count the number of nobles I've seen risk anything at all to save their people on one hand. Try the nobles of Vandlar, at least they have money to lose should they not act.
You call for men of power? Be careful what you wish for.
