Leather Rivets!

Rivets are important. They hold your armor together (or let it fall apart). They add to your armor's look (or take away from it). They can make the armor flex and pivot properly (or hinder your every moment).

I'm trying to find good leather rivets, but am having a hard time with the topic. What I've found out is that rapid rivets rapidly fall apart. Chicago screws work beautifully, (if the thickness is right). Copper Burrs are good, except when you don't want copper. I haven't tried hollow point, but that seems so inelegant (And out of period).

What I want would be rivets of a gun metal (black nickel) color that uses burrs and mushrooms when stamped. Also, preferably would have a large head.

What are your experiences with leather rivets?
