Hullo there! My name is Junior and I would like to get into LARPing. I’ve never done a live action game before, but I’ve been role playing in one form or another for years.
I’d like to join you guys for your April event, but I’d like to do an NPC role if I may. (I don’t feel like I know enough about the game yet to create a good character.) And I have a lot of questions… For starters, is there anything special I have to do before hand or do I just show up? Will I need a costume or any other equipment? Any general advice for a newbie?

If you're going to NPC your first event there's nothing you have to bring but you! Wear dark clothes, preferably black sweatpants and shirt without logos showing and try to wear a comfortable pair of shoes with as little logo on them as possible.

Pack extra socks. Like, pack what you think is good, then add 2 more pairs. Bring an extra pair of pants for playing in.

The site has showers, so bring toiletries and a clean change for the end of the weekend. Bring sleeping gear; sleeping bag, pillow, alarm clock if you need one.

Monster camp will supply costume and weaponry for you, so unless you have something you personally want to bring... but if you do, make sure you store it in your sleeping bag and not leave it in monster camp.

NPCing is a great way to learn a lot of the rules.

Ask around; you might need to make a new post. Folks are generally pretty great about doing rides, especially if you can arrange an easy pick-up location/gas money.
