Hey, that's great! I know another person who does the same thing, she' constantly posting articles about gaming and LARPing for the Philadelphia version, and even did an interview with me for it.

Good luck! All publicity is good, and it's even better when you get paid for writing it!

Yup. Even The Wild Hunt.

As an Indy film, it will have very limited release so who knows exactly how many people will see it. If the number is low, there will be no real ill effect from it. We might not get a dozen or so people to play who would even think about playing in the first place. Now, if the number is high, then you'll get the whole "Mazes and Monsters" effect where there will be some small crusades against the evils of LARPing. The thing is that when Mazes and Monsters came out, there wasn't the internet. This time, you'll get people who say, "LARPing is evil!" and almost immediately, the media will search out people to interview about it to show how real to life it is. But the people most likely to be contacted will be those who are 110% in support of LARPing, can inform them that such things do not take place in real LARPs and the possibility of such a thing happening is about the same chance of having hundreds of poisonous snakes loose on an airplane.

So the sport will gain some major coverage and although you'll always have those extremists whose viewpoints you can't change (still religious groups out there against D&D), for the most part it will bring the fun of the hobby more to light.

My previous statement is about attempting to get a disclaimer placed either at the beginning of the movie and/or on the package that states that this is a fictional game and that it does not represent actual LARPing. Because LARPing is such an unknown thing to the majority of the public, it would be like showing nothing but airplane disaster movies THEN introducing air travel. But I believe with a proactive approach, the damage could be kept to a minimum and that it can actually be turned into greater publicity for the game.

The LARP Alliance is currently preparing to set into motion various informational and promotional projects and releases for when the movie hits US soil on May 28th. So far the main producer of the movie has been very amicable to discussions with us and we're hoping that he will agree to some things that won't impact his movie at all but will help to keep people from thinking that LARPers are nothing more than horny drunkards. That's the SCA. :)

BTW, I'm KIDDING SCA'ers. I know that y'all aren't horny. :D

I'll definitely be writing about Wild Hunt.

Definitely.

Whne Mazes and Monsters came out.. The foaming at the mouth bible thumpers were pretty bad even during the pre internet as we know it days. Even my uncle said I hope you don't go play Dungeons and Dragons it's satanic. So after 20 something years later. I still have all my D&D stuff and memories of the LARP and medieval recreation events I have been to and ran. But since we have the internet. Yeah I can see the crazy peopel coming out of the wood work like never before. I just want to see wild hunt for myself. And I know it won;t chaneg my mind on LARP or any such event. After all it's a movie. Meant to entertain.
