Low Level Event Scheduled by popular demand!

Michelle (Head of Plot) asked me to post this:

Greetings Players!

You asked for it, and we heard you! I am happy to announce the return of a long-standing Headquarters tradition, our annual low-level event. This event will replace the Battle Weekend (Sept 19-21). The Battle Weekend may be rescheduled. Please stay tuned for updates on that, as well as rules and restriction for this year's low level event.

Bump in the Night - And Day (low level): The Kobolds of Fairdale are bringing back the tradition of Way Day (their favorite holiday) and wreaking havoc over the countryside. Can the newest adventurers keep them at bay?

What level range will be allowed to attend the event?

We're still working the details out, and will post them as soon as they are finalized.

YAY!!!! That's so fantastically great!!!!

Let me give you a little insight into my personal philosophy of low level events:

Low level events are not simply "easy" events. They are events that are statted to provide an appropriate challenge to low level characters. This means that monsters will not be swinging high damage, or have a ton of body or resists (though some of the bigger monsters of the weekend may have a few). We're not just going to put out a ton of level one goblins for you to squash and call it a day. There may still be a slay or two on the field, and spells will still fly. Just in appropriate proportion to the level.

Lowbie weekends, in my opinion, are the chance for newer characters to be the heroes and win the day - but that hardly counts for any bragging rights if it's way understatted. That's like a high school team bragging that they are undefeated in the league - only to find out that the rest of the league consisted of 4th graders. To continue the analogy, you'll be competing against other high school teams, not the college and pro guys that are sometimes present at our normal events.

The whole idea is to give you the chance to win or lose based on your skill - both your character card stats, and your guile, wit and cunning. What leaders will emerge? Who will come up with the strategy to win the day? Who will do something so outside the box that plot has to rewrite the weekend (this HAS happened at low level events)?

So bring your A game. Kobolds can be crafty! ;)

Awesome, Michelle. I agree totally.

Guys, let's make this a well-attended low-level event. Consider creating a secondary character if you don't already have one that is relatively low level. New characters are fun! Just ask Mike Engler!

Alternate characters are a great way to make the whole game seem new again. Pick a different race and a different class and get a new perspective.

Or, if new characters aren't your thing, NPC! Especially if you usually feel that your character needs to be there because of various in-game commitments, this is the perfect chance to see how the other half lives. Give some new players an event they'll remember. And I don't know -anybody- who doesn't smile a little when their name pops up in somebody's favorites list.

i will definietely be attending this event... i am torn about finally getting to play a secondary, or NPCing.. I really miss NPCing... hmmmm..

Robb, I'll be NPCing.... if oyu decide to, I'll try to make sure we get to roll out together for something, since we haven't don that since like forever.... if not, I'll just make sure to harass the mini-you ::LOL:::

im going to try to be there but it depends on my schedule. if i can make it tho i think ill bring out my new charicter....

Yay! I get to break out another character. Now to figure out which one. Decisions, decisions.

And for those who were asking, even though the details are still be finalized, the cap for the previous low-level events was 84 build. That is a soft cap, meaning that if you are slightly over the cap, but have a ton of RP skills, you can send a request to Plot and see if they OK you for a certain character. Don't go sending them anything until they make the official announcement.
