March 30 Event Site Reminder

Just wanted to post a quick reminder that our first event of the season (March 30-April 1) is being held at the MUCC Cedar Lake Outdoor Center. The last time we had an event here a lot of people had trouble finding the camp entrance. The sign is fairly small and set back a bit from the road making it really hard to see at night. We will put some glow sticks or something similar at the entrance in an attempt to help people see the site but even with those it may be hard to spot. Here are the directions:

To get to the MUCC camp you take 94 (east or west) to exit 157 (Pierce Road) head north (straight) on Pierce. Drive past Cavanaugh Lake road. The Camp will be less than a mile past Cavanaugh Lake on left. Cedar Lake Camp. It is about 20 mins west of Ann Arbor.

Just remember that if you have gone more than a mile past Cavanaugh Lake Rd, you have gone too far!

Can't wait to see everyone!

This will be my first time to an event at this site. How does it compare to Camp Kiwanis? Running water, electricity, fridge access?

This site is much bigger than Camp Kiwanis; lots of land to walk around in and you have the "light absorbing" woods too!

There are 3 sets of cabins that are available for people to bunk in; A Cabins, B Cabins, and C Cabins.

The B and C cabins have electricity, unfortunately the A cabins do not have electricity at this time. There is a walk-in Fridge and Freezer at this campsite but only in the main tavern building; it should have more than enough room to put whatever you need to put in there. There is a very new bathhouse that will have running water in it but the water was just turned on so it might be a little dirty at first.

I would suggest that people bring a space-heater (if you can) and some extra clothes just in case it ends up being a cold weekend!

Hope that answers everything!

this will also be my first time at your chapter , do you have cabins for people not part of a team , how are sleeping areas set up?

All of the cabins/sleeping areas are first come first serve. Each cabin sleeps anywhere from 10-20 people so you shouldn't have a hard time finding a place to set up. This is only our second time using this camp so no groups have really staked their claim on any specific sleeping areas yet.

It looks like it is going to be cold and rainy this weekend. Remember to bring space heaters if you have one and warm clothes and blankets! Some of the cabins have electricity but I don't know if they have heat.
