Massive Mechanical Traps

Under Massive Mechanical traps, the rulebook says they must be a 3x3x3 immovable rep. However, it also states that "Anyone struck by any part of the trap when it goes off takes full damage from the trap."

We need a bit of clarification here. Do Massive Mechanical traps actually have to be set up to physically hit a player with a 3x3x3 'immovable' object so as to count their hits, or do they use a standard trap trigger and 5' radius as Weapon Traps now do? The text for them has not changed from the previous edition of the rules.
 
Massive Mechanical traps do not have a 5' radius. Instead, they affect whatever
the (safe as judged by a marshal) physrep hits. Note that the 'immovable' term
denotes that the item is immovable *in-game*.
