More questions: Shield Manufacturing

max area = 531in and the max dimension is 36in correct?

is there a trick to building good shields? what are good shapes to make them? I don't know the first thing about actually cutting wood and the like so this is going to be an interesting challenge

The first thing to learn is by gosh DON'T make them out of wood... >.< Unless you want to kill your arm. You can make very nice light shields out of corrugated sign board, glued together in 2-3 layers (depending on the size) criss crossing the grain to give it strength. I think there is also a thread on the national part of the OOG boards in one of the sub forums talking about shield construction currently as well.

I'm not too sure how this stacks up to Alliance standards, but a this was a good tutorial vid I found.
They did interesting weaponry too, in another video.

FIY it was made my Mormons, I'm not sure why.

Wait, am I understanding this right? Mormons have a larp society for pretending to battle for the promised land?

That's actually pretty funny.
so back to the topic of shields, does anyone have recommendations for making them out of open-cell foam board similar to the stuff that goes into weapons?

For strap material that not expensive, I check out the local Axman(http://www.ax-man.com/) stores. They usually have something that can serve the task quite well. (That where I got a roll of the strap material for my current shield.) You might even find a clip to do what your looking for there as well.
