Mowin' the lawn

Ooh yeah, what fun!

I plan on getting up to the site early, as always, to ride the tractor and mow the lawn before the event.

However, while the tractor does a wide swatch, it can't give you that lawn mower closeness we would like -- but for our purposes, it's not the most important thing.

BUT this next event is the Tourney, and we really should have one area that is closely mowed in order to make the combat portions of the Tournament safer.

If anyone can come up early, I would appreciate the help. We have a regular lawn mower and if someone could do an area, that would help tremendously.

I'm thinking of doing the far corner of the field that doesn't have cabins on it, because then there is a nice shaded area under the trees for people to sit and watch.

...and I suppose we need to come up with an IG name of the field -- the old one was called "Gwendolyn's Field" after a Duchess.

Bryan's Field (after a duke of course and also kind of a tribute to JTF)?

Seconded!

i don't want to be the guy posting my descent, but i will anyway i suppose. though for OOG reasons this is a great idea, I am trying to figure out why the field would be named this IG. assuming Duke Frost would do the naming, I would have guessed he would probably name it after something to do more with the area/struggle with the dominion/struggle with retaking the contested lands... none of which has much to do with the late Duke Bryan Nordenn. If there was a good IG reason to name it after Duke Bryan, then awesome. Otherwise, if we're looking for just a tribute, why not call it Finnegan's Field?

I'd suggest Dara's field but we already have Dara's Grace.

Perhaps a name befitting the late King Gareth Ap Moire? Moiresfield? I dunno.

not trying to upset anyone.. just how my brain works.

That's a good point. And Frost was a royal knight under Gareth - he was much closer to him than to Bryan.

I like the idea of Finnegan's field; and maybe we can do a write up of this supposed man having been a hero from history that brought some of the bonds of Icenia together to form what it is today.

Although Duke Bryan Nordenn would also be an excellent choice.

I don't see why the in game name has to be as new as the oog name. I guess locals could have named the field 12 years ago when Bryan was Duke and adventurers are just learning of the name now. Maybe there aren't many locals left because of all the trouble in the area and that's why we didn't learn of the name earlier - I know I didn't see many locals at the last event (maybe Stoney or the tavern owners or something?)

That same reasoning can easily justify Finnegan's Field of course. The field has been called that by locals for as long as anyone can remember after a legendary brownie who always helped the locals in times of trouble (domestic trouble like harvesting crops, finding lost kids, cleaning homes while the commoners slept at night, etc.).

Well just throwing ideas out. But if people want to call it Bryan's Field or Finnegan's Field explaining it in game should be easy enough.

We found the name in the celler of the tavern on an old map.....

Finnegan could be a dwarven name... I like Dave's idea... or Stoney or Skirfir could also know that it was once called that and laugh at us for being ignorant of it.

Could be interesting for someone to write up a "History of Finnegan" the dwarven hero...who knows... could be some interesting plot/story.
