MWE race name change

When we get around to the race packet, I'll make sure that the name we've been using here-and-there actually goes in... But, more directly, I know with my PC and with a few NPC's, as well as at least one race packet, already notes a different name for yous guys.

How so? Does it allow you to vote while not logged in?

My vote goes for Woodfolk.

Unfortunately, I cannot participate in the poll.

WoW This is wonderful coming from an owner.

I think he's just informing us that it's possible with the way that the alliance boards are set up/run to "stuff the ballot box" as it were.

For instance, the Seattle forums have a registration process. This prevents random sign-ups. The Alliance forums have no such process. There's nothing preventing someone from getting multiple free email accounts and creating multiple board accounts to vote however they want to in the poll.

True and i do know there going to be doing the same thing with the national boards by this summer, but he still should not have said that. Now the ARC would have no reason to even slightly care about the results of that poll.

I wouldn't be surprised if you didn't even have to be logged in to hit the poll, seeing as the info is apparently saved on the computer's side, rather than the server-side.

You have to be logged in to vote on the poll.

I don't think the ARC was really going to take a serious look at it anyway, given Scott's comments on the matter.

I was pointing it out as a warning that the poll results could be tainted, not that anyone should or would mess with the results. I do know that the Owners I have spoken to are very interested in the poll results, but I do look at any web poll with scepticism since the exploits are always there.

Also, Togashin, its not an ARC issue, its an owner issue, as Mike V pointed out. And while I, as a pessimist, think I already see the outcome of this, I think its still worth trying for, because I really would like to see a change. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. I haven't tested if the poll was susceptible to ballot stuffing, because its not how I would operate nor do I think my friends would. If the people against the idea want to work so hard against me, then I guess thats easier than them asking their owners to vote against it *if* there is a proposal.

Personally, I am just trying to offer up a change that I think makes things a touch better for all players.

I will point out, though, that the change had already started IG. A lot of people out here were commonly referring to MWE as MWF for a while, and when the people from Chicago came out in Feb I had pointed out to at least one of them that some of the MWEs out here found that MWE was mildly offensive and preferred the MWF term, to which they explained why they actively embraced MWE. It was interesting. Anyway, point being just cause the book says one thing doesn't mean you can't IG say another thing and change people's minds through RP (or combat  ).

How is it not an ARC issue? The ARC formalizes every proposal that is to be put through to be voted by the owners.

Actually, not so much. Every owner can make a proposal. Often they do go through ARC, but it is not absolutely necessary for them to.

The ARC still looks at the proposals. I'm not saying they make decisions on them, they just look them over.

This is not a required step. Owners can (and do) post things to the Owner's Board for votes without ARC ever having heard, seen, smelled, or thought of that particular issue. Not common but it happens.
