New and interested in the game

I have been gaming for 15 years. I have never LARPed before but I am interested. I went to the Alliance website and am still unclear as to what I really need to do to get started. Anyone interested in helping a n00b I would greatly appreciate it.

So I read all the posts on subject: "I was curious about your organization..." and it contained most of the answers I was seeking.

Just a few question: At the site are their beds? Is food supplied or should I bring my own stuff? If I come in early on Friday at the November event would someone be willing to help me out by checking out my character and gear?

I just picked up the rulebook but the website mentioned a players guide. How do I get your chapter's players guide???

There are beds with a simple mattress on them. If you want something more comfortable than that, bring an air mattress.

Food is generally supplied for NPCs (AFAIK anyway still), but PCs are required to arrange their own food.

If there's a marshal there, I'm sure they'd be happy to help. I believe anyone you see posting here that has a name that's bolded and in a color other than dark blue should be capable of assisting you. (I say it that way to make getting in contact with someone on the boards first easier, seeing as you don't know anyone by face or nickname or whatnot yet.)

Thank you for responding. So what about the players guide or setting book? Can I get/buy that from someone? I understand the settings are different for all the chapters.

Well, I'm not a plot person...

As far as I know, Seattle doesn't have an actual hand-it-out player's guide. Mind you, I haven't played in Seattle in a year or so at this point, so that could have changed.

Best bet would be to PM someone with a green name. They're plot people. I recommend Nightstorm (Chris Trabucco.)

There isn't one published, anyway. Any setting information, either general or specific to your character, would be given to you by a plot person.

As for getting your stuff checked out, if you plan on pre-registering for the event, you can get your character in the system beforehand. As far as I am aware, you will need your gear checked out when you check in no matter what. Earlier is, of course, more convenient for that.

Thanks. Any notes on the setting anyone could give would be great. At this point I don't even know the name of the country in game.

Andar, but that's all the info I can give you. I am just a lowly NPC, after all.

Like I said, you should really just take a second and PM a plot person... They tend to pay more attention to PMs it seems than general chatter on the forums. Probably because they're too busy writing stories!
