NEW INFO - Winter Feast 2009

Greetings All who are interested in the Feast!
Fast facts—the in-game Winter Feast will be held Sat. Feb 7, 2009, from sometime after twelve until sometime after eight pm, in Springfield, Vermont (Thank you, Paladar, for directions above!). There will be Deadlands season 2009 teasers!
Location—
As you may know, we have had some unexpected difficulties with our original feast site for this year. Thankfully, our own indomitable Mark heroically came to the rescue & found for us an alternate site—for the same day and off the same exit. Huzzah for Mark! The new site is better in many ways, but the down side is that there will be an open bar at one end of the hall, and that we will not have access to the feasting-hall before 12 noon. The feasting area is separated from the bar by a thick curtain that kills the noise quite efficiently. We will set up as quickly as possible and plan to keep a CD player on our side of the curtain, playing medieval, renaissance, and other such music, to help us to maintain the atmosphere.
Nevertheless, to use the bathroom, guests will have to open the curtain a bit and pass through the bar. The site managers are aware that small children and underage players will be attending, and don’t anticipate any difficulties for them.
We will be separating off a section of the feasting-area (with light curtains) for costume changing and for child- and infant-needs, so as to limit the need to venture to the bathrooms. I apologize for any inconvenience, but I think that we will find ourselves well able to overcome modern intrusions and enjoy the feast.
To Bring—
Once again, we are asking for a $10.00 donation to help defray the rental fee & some of our other costs. Also this year, our feast will be pot-luck (it’s hard to find abundant, rich fare in the Deadlands). We are providing bread & cheese, some meat, wine (fruit juices), and cake: so bring salads, casseroles, finger foods, deserts—or anything else that catches your fancy. We are planning for about 30 attendees. There is a kitchen for quick heat-ups and other last-minute prep. It's in the mists--whoever you are, your character can taste the food!
Please note: you will be expected to entertain in some way—be prepared to juggle, sing, dance, play an instrument, tell a joke or story, recite a poem, arrange a game, perform a trick, dramatize a scene—whatever it is that you would like to share (please try to keep it in-game, limiting modern or religious references). If you draw a blank, some books of verse, songs, and short stories will be provided. Everyone entertains in some way at our feast, and in recompense, everyone will be rewarded with a favor. Favors will be chosen and awarded by Sir Wynn and/or the Revel Mistress Irina. All gifts can be used in-game. Additionally, if you have in-game coin or trade goods, you may wish to bring some—a few of our guests plan to bring items for (in-game) sale.
Entertainments—
As at our other feasts, our Dance-Master, Rothsphere, will lead us in medieval dances (including, I believe, the dances we called the “Savage” dance and the “Lady-tossing” dance). He will also host for us the popular “Assassin” game. Many other amusing games and entertainments are planned—I wish we could do them all!
And, perhaps we may convince our own Revel Mistress Irina to grace us with a dance—ever the highlight of our feasts.

We always have a great time, and we are looking forward to seeing you all there!
Love, Ben aka Sir Wynn

oh—PS—since we have limited set-up and clean-up time, we would greatly appreciate any who arrive expecting to help at noon, or who stay to help afterward. The gratitude of a Knight of the Harvest may be a useful thing in the Deadlands... ;-)

Sorry, this is a double post.

LOCATION—LOCATION—LOCATION

I’m terribly sorry about this, folks, but we are going to hold the feast at the original 2009 site—the VFW Hall in Charleston, NH (right near Claremont). Once we resolved our troubles there, we really thought it best to have a site without the inconvenience of an open bar. It gives us a somewhat-separate room for babies/children’s needs AND we can go in at 9:00am to set up, which means—more time to feast!!!

I hope you can forgive the confusion. I am told that this is the final and actual location for the feast this year. (Man, have I gained respect for the staff who find us sites for each event through the year!)

So. Here goes. Winter Feast---Feb 7, 2009, from 12:00-8:00pm at
VFW 65 Lovers Lane Rd., Charlestown, NH.

To repeat Mark’s great directions from a previous post:

For people coming form south and East. i.e. Boston area, you may want to come up through Rte 2 to rte 140 to rte 12 into Keene, NH. Stay on Route 12 through Keene and stay on it all the way into Charlestown, NH.
Come through the village, and take the left onto Lovers lane. ( This will be the first left after the turn for Rte 91 just outside of the village) The VFW is the first place on the left. Big Blue Building. You can see it from Rte 12.
For people coming from VT, Northern NH or Western Mass and Conn. Take rte 91. The
Charlestown/Springfield VT exit ( I believe it ie exit 7). Head east, across the Connecticut river toward Charlestown, NH. At the end of the bridge, take a left. Follow this road for about a mile. Look for the big Blue building on you right, across from the outdoor sportshop. If you come to a stop sign you have gone too far.

Those who wish it may type VFW Charlestown, NH into Google. A map appears.
Love, Ben /Sir Wynn

PS—next year, let’s hold the Winter Feast in Hawaii! (just kidding)
