New Logistical Issue

Hey Guys and Gals,

So we have our tickets all squared away, our packing lists are being drawn up and reservations for a Van are in the works. In other words folks WE ARE ON OUR WAY!

I can't begin to tell you how exited our group is to come visit your chapter, I don't go a day without at least one person mentioning it in anticipation. It will be the first time all of us have made it to play an entire event in years.

Now our tiny bity problem, We had previously worked out the tranportation of our more "unwieldy" weapons and shield by a pack of crazy Iowans intent on ripping the road straight out to the coast, however, their plans having changed, we can no longer rely on their kind offer of help.

We have 1 shield, 3 longswords, 1 spear, and 1 Polearm. All of which can't fit into our checked luggage. We would be grateful if we could prevail upon you guys for at least the shield, and spear which are kind of critical to each of the PCs that wield them. If someone can build we can buy and then donate to monster camp ( we'll send you our goblin purchases ahead of time) after the event or if someone has spares we can beg, compensate, etc.

Also, some of these reps are Magical, can we bring the tags and just add them to the weapon/shield?

If anyone can help either Post, PM or send me an email to Pfoisy@gmail.com

Thanks,

Paul

I can probably rustle up a spear and get it back into working order. I'll take stock of what else I may have available when I get home tonight. My guess is that the Polearm may be the toughest one to acquire off that list. Shields and long swords are aplenty (If only more people read the forums...), and there's a handful of us that keep extra spears.

I know of one person that has a char with a polearm and he's not playing that char. If he can't/won't bring it I'll make ya one up and get it up there. Got any picks of the original?

Thanks Brad Thanks Max!

Any help will be appreciated. I don't have any pics of the Polearm but I will ask for specs and you can bring me back a price quote for anything you have to outlay.

I know John, the guy with the spear, has no real cares as to what it looks like so long as it works. We need to pick up a roll of white Duct Tape to make some of these babies Magic but otherwise we should be good.

The one I'm really worried about is myself, of course, cuz I have a Longsword but I tend to be really picky in what I fight with when I PC cuz I have to deal with whatever I can get as an NPC.

As you guys come up with/decide on what would be fair compensation please forward the information to me and ill make a list of what we owe to who!

Paul

Man, I am psyched at getting out there next month.

Don't sweat the materials for the polearm, I was already gonna make one for my fighter at some point and already had the ultralite core and stuff bought and I'll keep it after the event, so no biggie. I also got a big ol' roll of white tape so you dont' gotta worry about that either. I'll be sure to pack a bag of about 40-50 spell packs for any visitors who needs em. There a hideous pink color so they're easy to tell if they're yours or not after a fight :D .

Nono, you are supposed to sell the pink packets for $1.00 each to support magic storm awareness and the tragic consequences of chaos storms.

I have extras of all of those things that can be borrowed.
The spear and the polearm are butt ugly and at least 6 years old apiece. If someone (Jeff) is looking to make a new one, I'd take his over mine.

I've also got two ultra light black backup longswords with T style crossguards. One is max length, the other is 41". I'd loan you one+ of those, if you need.
Similarly, I've got at least one ultralight blank black shield. I think it's a kite, but I'm not sure.

If you can manage to have someone take one less bag (spread their gear amongst everyone else) you could probably get a large military duffle bag for your items. If you place the swords in a golf bag they should be reasonably protected. That's what we did when we came to TC.

You might get lucky like we did and not get charged for oversized luggage.

You guys are all awesome!

I will most likely attempt to fit 2 longswords which will realy only leave us to worry about shields, spear, and poleare for which we appreaciate all your offers.

(Note: Dave how does one get ahold of you to get you the MI lists you needed, I have sent you a couple of emails this week not sure if you received them)

What handedness should the shields be? Will the wielders be strapping them to their left or right arms? I know most of us out here who use kite-ish shields tend to strap them down the middle so they could go either way but figured I'd make sure we know in case anyone planning to make/loan shields is gonna strap them specific.

That's a darn good question, I never bothered to look at what hand Tom and Ryan hold their shields in. I'm pretty sure they use their left hand to hang on to the shield.

Paul

Both Tom and Ry use the Shield on the Left arm... since they are right handed... and so do I, but If little ol me needs a Shield I'll borrow Ry's hehe... cause I'm a lefty who fights right handed... WOOT for me.

As for the pole arm, its a bit more than min length, I'm 5'5'' and it stands a bit shorter than me. You can really make it any height that you want as long as it's functional. I have used many lengths in practice.

Here's a Picture of the design, courtesy of the MWE using it.

Thanks for the cooperation,

I can throw in a spare insulation foam kite shield if needed. It's strapped for left arm use. If someone prefers a light kite shield to the alternatives (my guess is most of the other loaner shields are probably circle shields?) just lemme know and I'll throw it in.

-Bryan

Heck yeah, I might want to use it...

Thanks Bryan.

I figured I'd have Solomon's shield kicking around and I only use it for specific stuff (yay long sword and hammer style booyah) so that'll be around and usable for non-nefarious purposes (yay sherriffy goodnes). It also is a foam ultralight non-round shield strapped for right handed sword users.

I can throw my shield in also, and it is rendered. :)
