New Player dwarf and weapon help

I'm thinking of playing a dwarf. I haven't played in an alliance game before. I have read the Rule Book. Any advice for background story or how to play a dwarf? Also any advice for weapon making other than what is in the rule book?

Otherwise, be however you wish. I have seen nice, kind, joking dwarves and I have seen gruff, stubborn, mean dwarves. They are very versitile.

Depends on the weapon you wish to build, and how much money you wish to spend doing so.

I'm a different Dallas. Thanks for the race packet link.

I'm planning on making a 46" sward similar to the specifications in the rule book. Is there any thing in addition that I should know.
 
Duct tape is a staple of Foam Weapon making, but I suggest to avoid it as much as possible. Its heavy and hard. Cover your weapon with cloth. It makes it so much softer and lighter.
