New player questions

Hi all, I'm completely new to LARPing but interested in it for a while, and figured I'd check out Alliance. I've gone through all the "read this first" materials and forum posts, but was wondering if there are any practices, social hang-outs, etc. in between the events. Hoping to make it to the Sept and Oct events, and would really prefer to not drop in to an event all lost and clueless.

I'm in the Twin Cities, so if there were any practices and such in the metro area that'd be even better.

Join the facebook group if you havent already. there have been a couple fight clubs etc but as far as i know none are happening any time soon.
