New Store coming soon

Hey everyone,

First, yes, i'm opening a business with LARP-related items, most likely in Charlestown, just a stone's-throw away from the Claremont site! I've already posted this on the main alliance marketplace forum, but as this is a more local chapter/player-base I thought i'd try to get everyone's opinion on a few things (keep in mind this is going to be a LARP specialty store):

-What sort of items would you buy right away from a store if they were offered?
-Are there any "recurring" items that you always find yourself needing but can't always find?
-How about costs on items, anything you see for sale that you wish was less expensive?
-Any other comments or questions for me about this place?

Please feel free to either zip a reply message on here or a PM; i very much appreciate any and all comments or suggestions!

Great Idea!

Off the top of my head, I would suggest selling the following.

Weapon Making Supplies, Specifically UL Cores and Coloured Duct Tape
Poition Bottles / Vials
Liquick Latex, Scarring Liquid, Fake Blood, Mehron Makeup (Perhaps a Make Up Kit that comes with a few standard colours and some other small items like blood capsules)
Elf Ears and MWE Horns
Key Rings
Leather String
Packet Making Supplies Maybe??? The right birdseed and plain white fabric and elastics
Friendly Plastic? The stuff to make Orc/Ogre tusks with.

That's all I got for now!

Other things to look consider:

If your target market is people new to larping:

Quick and easy garb solutions: Pull over things to make boots look more in period. Basic garb rack, or patterns on how to make your own.

In period light sources (flameless candles) or premodified / predecorated flashlight torches, or the hanging fake flame cauldrons

Cabin Decorations (less of an issue in our site but a bigger deal in others I've been to)... namely tapestries etc.

I think prosthetics for all races would be a pretty sweet idea. Beards, sideburns, feathers, ears, tusks etc. A place to get prosthetics nearby the site in case one breaks or gets lost is a pretty handy thing to have. And to add to the idea of packet-making, ready-cut string for arrows could be a part of the packet supplies. If the fabric and string were all set and ready, that alone would be awesomesauce.

Foam foam and more foam....

Leather and cloth brig armor

Leather weapon sheaths and frogs, particularly frogs that hold two weapons on one side (because those are non existent) and sheaths you can wear on your back.

Lastly, in period back packs, leather and cloth.

I would buy all of these items today if they were available.

Hey,

Well, I'm definitely getting great input from everyone, and it's not only much appreciated but helping to shape what I'll be stocking in the store! I saw one post saying anything someone could use a replacement of during an event, and sad to say I wouldn't be open on weekends. However, seeing as I'll own the place and there's about a 90% chance I'd be at the event I would gladly open the store to get anything someone wants during an event as I go home at night anyway! :D

Thanks everyone for the input,

Ok, some news to those looking at this post....

First, I wanted to let you know my "placeholder" website is up; either http://www.thelarpresource.comor simply http://www.larpresource.com. I'm working on quite a lot regarding the business, and as of now my goal is to have the storefront open by late spring to early summer, if all goes as planned. I won't reveal much yet, but (again if all goes as planned) I will have quite a nice surprise for all you Deadlands players when I open!

Renaissance style poofy sleeve shirts and some tabards.
Also, everyone needs a good pouch or bag.
Boot coverings so you can wear comfy shoes and make them look good.

Hard and soft leather, adventurer back packs. Something affordable, simple, with no zippers or logos.

I've never seen them, and have had to make my own.
