New to LARPing altogether

Hello!

I am brand new and just have a couple questions -
1) Is there still a seattle chapter? The link takes me to a blank page.
2) If an event is set - is it pretty much a go? During my research I have found that some events for other organizations are cancelled even the day of.

Thanks for any help!
Joshua

Games getting canceled in Alliance are rare, and I've never seen one canceled the day of. Emergencies happen of course, but that's not standard practice around here.

We cancelled one halfway through one time when a snow storm was turning into a major problem and people were worried that by Sunday we wouldn't be able to get home! That's the only time I can think of, though...

Heya Josh, welcome!
I'm Matt, the General Manager of Alliance Seattle. Sorry about the website, I'm not sure what's up, but now that I know about it I'll get it handled ASAP. The forum link that Seth put up: http://www.alliance-seattle.com/forums/index.php is the best place to get started with Seattle. I guarantee that every weekend (Friday through Sunday or Monday) event on our calendar will happen. I make the reservations usually 6 or more months in advance. Even if something bad happens, we'll go to pretty extreme lengths to make sure an event occurs. The upcoming event (in January) will be attended by people from far away as Chicago. Have no worries, it'll be a big one.

The only time we've ever canceled a game is if it's a Faire Day, a single afternoon game that only lasts a few hours. In the past we've canceled those much smaller games due to snow, power outages, or just that the weather was so bad that only 2 or 3 people showed. Weekend Events aren't really affected by such immediate changes, especially since we generally draw 25-70 people. I can't think of a time where we've ever had a reason to cancel a weekend game.

Thanks Everyone for your responses!!

I will take my questions over to the other board.

Good to know people here are willing to help - as it says on your FAQs it is easy to think that no one will pay attention to a newbie, but you were helpful and welcoming which definitely made me feel better about taking a chance with Alliance.
