New weapon guidelines and blunt weapons

I just read through the new weapon guidelines and I have a few questions.

Just to confirm, these changes are effective immediately, right? I've had a couple structural issues with my hammer rep, and with the extra leeway given by the new weapon construction rules I'd like to rework its design a bit before the next event.

The hammer is a magic item. Do I have to check in with plot in any way before making a new rep as long as it looks the same and is roughly the same length and all that?

The new guidelines say/imply that blunt weapons no longer need a thrusting tip and that both open and closed cell foam can be used on the heads. I intend to make a new hammer where the head is made primarily of open cell foam mounted around the pipe insulation shaft with a 1/2" thick piece of blue camp foam at the very tip to protect the insulation foam. Something like this, where the grey is kitespar, the green is open cell foam, the blue is camp foam, and the tan is pipe insulation. Assuming it's properly made and all that, would this be likely to pass weapon inspection?

Another question with the rule change for SoMN:

11. Weapon safety tags are no longer required for all weapons at an event. Note however that this does not change the requirement that all weapons be checked before each event. This change allows each chapter to implement its own method for ensuring that weapons are checked at each event; some chapters may require stickers, others may rely on colored ribbons or zip ties, while still others will not allow you to go through Logistics until your weapon has been checked.

Will we continue the white sticker we've done in the past/currently do, or will we check our (recurring) weapons in each game?

Any weapon marshals wanna chime in on this?

I've no issues with it. Looks and sounds just fine in theory, of course subject to inspection of course.

Go for it. Just maintain as close to the size and shape of the original as possible. We'd rather have safe well-constructed weapons than ones with structural issues that could cause holds or injuries.

As to safety tags... somebody else will have to answer that.

Safety tags are no longer 'required' to be on the weapon, per the new weapons rules.
