Hi Everyone,
In working with the people of the town over the winter and much of spring I have identified a few things that require work. I know the recent upswing in violence has made things tense, but we have a lot of preparations to make behind the lines ahead of the respite. Once the respite has started, these projects can help us take back a bit of ground.
If anyone wants to lend their hands to a bit of honest work, please see contact me by pigeon or find me at my shop or the craftsman shops. These jobs range from common work like ditch digging, woodcutting, and paving, to more "adventurous" jobs.
#1- The Kilner Mining Company- Ore makes weapons, no mine no weapons. If your interested, these guys are still getting back on their feet after this springs attacks. The mine is working again but is always hiring miners, sifters, or even guards for the shipments. If your more adventuresome, theres been strange hissing noises comming from the mines of late and although no attacks have been made, I'd guess were not too far off. These men and women rose up to shelter people during the recent counter attack and are doing hard work to keep us, and eventually our militia supplied. See me or Mister Joseph Kilner (OOG Dave G) if your interested in helping out.
#2- Restablishing the Quarry- I aquired the rights to mine this quarry last year and spend a good portion of a marketday clearing it out of some nasty elemental creatures. The Quarry will allow us to pave a road, build walls and defenses but above all rebuild our homes. Right now, its painfully slow going work because their short handed and don't have a dedicated "Manager". I have some foremen and workers but could always use more. If your looking for a job this is good honest labor. If your more adventurous, there's an occasional outbreak of ice creatures, usually when a new block is unearthed, I am organizing hunt for anyone who goes there, these creatures do usually have a bit of treasure in the form of ice motes, coins, and the like. Bring a bag and a pair of gloves or it will get awfully chilly for your digits though.
#3- Building the main road- I undertook to speak to the majority of business owners in the last year and many of them have agreed to outlay some of the cash to make this a possiblity. More roads allows for better communications, support, and What we need now, is both manpower to keep the roads safe and folks to work on builduing the roads themselves. I am hiring an engineer and am looking for a manager to get this project really rolling. So far there havent been any problems encountered that need adventurers help but if your interested in helping out one way or another let me know.
If anyone else has any major undertakings they want to achieve, send me a pigeon or sit down with me this comming marketday. I'd also like to speak to the council to see what they have in mind going forward.
Let's work hard till respite comes.
Sheriff Woods.
