October Newsletter

You may have noticed that the October newsletter hasn't been posted yet. There is a reason for that. Mike doesn't have enough articles, items, gossip ads, or anything to fill the newsletter.

I know we have some very creative people in our chapter. And I know a lot of you are good writers. Can we please get some of you to contribute?

You could write:

* about the mod your group went on
* a classified ad
* a letter to the editor
* about the National event (there's gonna be Dryads, for crying out loud.... can't someone write something about that?)
* about a wave battle
* gossip (this is always needed)
* a plotline your character is involved in
* a poem or short story
* your guild's activities
* your adventuring group's activities

I have written a couple of articles myself, but we need more. What do you say? Can I get some volunteers? Please?

Thanks!

i already sent in the mage's guild report... which is kind of lengthy. my problem is, that's the only event i pc'd since the last newsletter, and because of my.... how you say... transitioning role... i specifically did not go on any mods.

i am hoping someone with some real knowledge of the rituals that were going on (ie, a stone elf player) will/has write/written about it as i honestly don't know all that was going on and they seemed to have known alot more about it.

Send everything to AllianceLARP@gmail.com

I'll try to list everything I have so far tonight when I get home from work, and then we cna try to figure out what we're missing.

Maybe everyone should try to come up with a list of what stories should be in the newsletter based on the last 3 events and post them here, and then we can try to assign them to people.

Thank you to those who have contributed.

We need more articles / classified ads / letters to the editor / gossip / anything, so please contribute!

I can't seem to get many people to write for this newsletter for some reason. There's absolutely nothing about the National event. Nobody has sent in any gossip. There has been three events and the newsletter is really small.

Here's what I have so far:

Small Group of Adventurers Fights Seige of Fairdale
Dominion Captures Baron Ivan
Brave Adventurers Find Strange Scroll
Biata Homestone Discovered
Hadley Moonstream Flees Icenia
Adventurer Comments About "Wayday"
Mage's Guild Report

Nothing about the national event, nothing about Halloween, nothing about dryads...

Please help!

were there any HQ PCs at the national? i know alot of folks played thier NJ characters or NPCed. i didn't get a chance to attend at all otherwise i'd be all over this.

I asume to subit, your character had to BE there. I npc-ed.

Edit PS: Also, my letters where not on that list, did you get them?

Why do articles have to be written by PCs? Doesn't a newspaper have "staff reporters" who could have interviewed unnamed witnesses to events and then write about it? The unnamed witnesses don't even have to be adventurers. A witness could be the hobling merchant who came to town to deliver nine kegs of ale to the Black Stag Tavern and heard about what happened. Or the dwarven smith who came to Fairdale knowing there are a lot of adventurers there who might need weapons or armor. These unnamed witnesses could have heard what happened and told the staff reporter who then writes the article. Can't anyone write an article as a "staff reporter?"

Yes, letters are there...

But, no, actually I don't want first person articles. In fact, of some of the first person articles I have received, I have rewritten them to make them more newspaper-like and less "here's what I did". Feel free to adopt the guise of an NPC reporter writing about what happened.

yes, absoltely! (See previous post that I wrote before reading this)

Didn't you say that an article about the national event ought to be written by a pc who was there? Also, as someone who has written a first person article or two, I'd like to point out that pretending to be a staff writer and doing it in the third person would have made the writing less interesting (for me personally - not necessarily for readers).

I guess if it comes down to writing something in 1st person or not writing at all, I say write in 1st person. I'd rather have a bigger newsletter.

Of course if you want to be a staff writer who interviewed 10 adventurers about what it was like to meet a dryad that's cool too. No reason why people who NPCed can't go that route.

Anyone got any gossip?

Anyone want to write something about the National event? Maybe someone who is interested in creating a new Dryad character? I'd write it, but I was only there for about half the time and I don't really know what happened.
