Hi All,

This is an off-topic post to give you information about Colorado's caucus for the Democratic Party, which happens tomorrow, Tuesday, March 1, 2016, at 7:00 pm.

Colorado's does caucuses, which are in-person meetings, instead of having a primary election for the Presidential election in the usual polling style. In order to vote in the Democratic "primary" here in Colorado, you have to show up to the caucus in person. You can't just go anywhere, or even anywhere within your county. You have one specific caucus location that is based on the residential address associated with your voter registration.

Here's where you find out where you go to participate in the Democratic Party caucus:

In order to participate, you need to meet these criteria:
  • You need to be registered to vote in Colorado;
  • You had to have been registered with the Democratic Party as of January 4, 2016; and,
  • You have to have been a resident of your voting precinct for at least 30 days (as evidenced through the address on your official voter registration with the CO Secretary of State).

Last note, and an anecdotal one: I have friends who live in Nevada, which caucused a few weeks ago. NV voters turned out in beyond-record numbers! Friends in Las Vegas told me that the fire marshalls denied entry to further participants in their Democratic caucus because of sheer numbers - whoa! Great news on political passion and participation -- but it means: Arrive early if you can.

Good luck, Democrats, and happy voting!
"May the odds be ever in your candidate's favor!"

No, thanks to a terrible leadership decision, your vote will not have a direct impact on the primaries, but I believe in doing what you should regardless of the outcome :)
