They look considerably less cheesy in the game environment, I assure you. I've been using this style of lock in other games and on modules for many years. These work great, and this is a great bargain.
If there is anyone who has, or who is interested in the
Legerdemain skill to pick locks, but isn't familiar with how it's done, I can teach you in about 30 seconds. Just come find me on site before the event. You don't need real lockpicks. In fact, they actually work less well on this style of "toy" lock. A dental pic, or even a cheap Bic pen with pointy nib, or the back of an earring work great! You just need a stiff piece of metal like those objects, and that works fine. (Paperclip is too malleable, and a pin is too annoyingly sharp, and/or thin.)
