Painting Hot Foam Masks

Hey guys,

I ordered a new hot foam mask for a character, and it comes unpainted. In the past I've done it by hand with a paintbrush, but I'm really interested in making this look really nice. I do have an airbrush, but my techniques are not the greatest. I was wondering if anyone had any tips about airbrushing/painting specifically hot foam masks, and what kind of techniques you use?

Thanks,
Ali

Best I can offer is keep the 6" distance and use medium speed strokes that follow the contours of the mask. If something doesn't cover evenly, don't immediately go back and try to fix it as the chance of pooling/dripping can be an issue and once that happens, it is hard to get that 'perfect' look you want.

If doing two tones or more, see if you can get some 'transparent' colors and slowly build up with them. The biggest thing is don't rush, don't get frustrated and don't put the airbrush right next to the area you're painting.
