Parting Words

As I prepare to make my way towards Valdanis. I wanted to leave some parting words over the weekend. We did some real good this weekend, the kingdom is saved again, the Dreadlord turned to ash. We did these things together, no one was a hero alone. No one person was more responsible for seeing these tasks done than another. For when we bleed and die together we are all equals.

I watched the town almost come to civil war this weekend. Nothing good comes from us fighting amongst each other. Nothing good comes from us willingly giving up our lives. I desperately hope this is a lesson the town learns from.

I've watched what happens when adventurers go to war with each other. I've been part of those wars. I've done terrible things in the name of my friend's honor. If things continue to head this way, the only thing that awaits us is death. Maybe you'll survive if you're lucky but, you'll lose friends along the way. Lots of them.

Instead of this path, I implore all of you to consider the alternative. Make peace and extend hand in friendship. We all work towards the same goals. And yes, we may frustrate, annoy, or even upset each other. However, when the time comes we need to be able to put that aside and work together.

Respect isn't something that is just earned, it's something that's constantly purchased. The currency is nice words after a rough battle. The currency is running through the enemy line to retrieve someone who's name you don't even know. The currency is information shared. With out that upkeep, respect withers and dies.

Even behind closed doors, angry words, accusations, and insults serve to undermine that purpose and bring us closer to oblivion.

The breakdown between adventurers that happened this weekend must never happen again, or the community here is doomed. And with it Wayside.

It is time to stop paying our debts to each other with our spirits, and instead start paying them with respect, hard work, and friendship.

Link,

Thank you. Your experience, perspective, and calm rational is a breath of fresh air shaking me out of the mire of hate and injustice. We would have no greater enemy if we were to turn on eachother. Wayside cannot afford its greatest defenders to fall victim to internal civil war. I must have patience and humility. I must allow those above my station and short years the time needed to seek the truth, find the resolution, and determine justice. I cannot dishonor my Brother and his sacrifice, though a piece of me died with him. Link, you speak the truth. I have not earned or given respect this past gather.

Lord Barrister Enan Bluewater of the Azure Keep and members of the Azure Keep I beg your forgiveness for the words I spoke in anger and haste this past gather. I have bleed beside you time and again yet, I failed you in that moment. I hope I am able to make amends. Please let me know if there is anything I can do in reparation of my transgression.

Wait, what happened?

I will say this, it is important to understand the difference between unity, and anarchy. In unity we all work together, in anarchy people do what ever they wish and expect all others to accept it without question. I will gladly support the first, but I will actively stand against the second. It is important not to invoke the idea of unity as a shield for dangerous acts, doing so taints the very ideal and prevents us from ever attaining it.

As to you Arista, I understand the pressure you were under when someone you care for is in danger, I hold you no ill will.

With a single exception for a member of the earth guild that is toying too closely with chaos, I will offer a fresh start, if anyone feels that I hold a grudge against them, know that from this day all old acts are water under the bridge, enchantments unraveled, kobolds fed to dragons, or how ever you wish to phrase it.

Thanks Link for your wise words. None of us are perfect but we should make ever continuing effort to set aside differences for the good of the people.

Thanks for your counsel this last gather.
