Hi there. Is it possible to play an npc character and later have him become a pc? Just wondering.

There isn't anything rules-wise to prevent it, so long as the NPC is a PC-possible character (ie, you cannot play a lich and then have it become a PC). So long as that part is covered, it would be entirely up to the Plot team.

Cool, i was thinking if it's possible to maybe go to this event as an npc and maybe after two events introduce him as a character. Would i get the equivilant of xp or whatever that i would get had i been playing said character as a pc? Or would he start at ground zero. Anyway, i guess that's a question for plot. Everyone feel free to chime in. Thank you.

Why exactly start him as an NPC? I mean if he will have the same build and abilitys, isnt this just a PC that was storylined into game with a plot assisted backround?

Kinda, it's complicated. Plus i can help out as a monster or something else some during the weekend.

I would say that planning to start out as an NPC then become a PC probably would and should be discouraged.

On the other hand, if you had a good time NPCing as "Joe the Farmer" and some cool roleplay led to him wanting to train under Lieutenant Jonathan to become a soldier, and then approached Plot with "Yeah, this cool scene happened, and stuff and things, can I start my character as Joe the Farmer who trained for LJ?", I'd think you'd have an easier time of it.

New characters start out with 15 build, unless you submit a history, in which case I think you get a blanket or two and start at 20 or 25 build.

Is that alot? Or should i pack the loin cloth and boffer spoon. How much build do you have? And i'm a gonna brace myself for impact.

Stay braced. Most people won't tell you how much build they have. (You certainly won't get it out of me!)

15 is a normal first level character. With an approved history, you get an event cover, which gains you enough build to make you second level.

If you're wondering where you stand in the grand scheme of things, Seattle's average player level is around 13.

And, for general info, at level 13, a player will have between 135 and 144 build (or so).

So i'm the proverbial grain of sand on the beach...great, i'll lull the monsters into a false sense of security and wham...i'll be yelling hey, anyone seen my arm?..lol. just makes building a pc that much more challenging and rewarding...or as my DI used to say, it's good for me, builds character

A few things to keep in mind, not all levels and classes and players are the same. If you want pure combat, low level can hinder you a lot, but if your looking for general playability, you dont need to many levels, and we have a lot of under 10th people around. Also, you can NPC, get gobbys, buy blankets and start at higher than 1st/2nd level. My advice, talk to plot, tell them what you want and what kind of backround you like, and have them advise you on the best way to do it.
And for the record, I survived with no deaths in pascal at level 2, so level is far from everything.

if you want to just NPC the weekend and introduce your character you can talk to plot about just cameo-ing. thats usually what happens, you get to go out for about an hour or so as your character. up until last event thats all the action my PC ever saw. :-p i would say that your best bet is to make a PC and cameo. usually the NPCs are just ones we send out over and over but i dont think they would really get turned into PCs... i would say it is possible but not probable. If you want to play your PC more and just help out in monster camp a little but then you can always double hook.

It depends on exactly what you want to do. :p

I did a little number crunch, and I estimate you have a 32.33 (repeating, of course) percent chance of survival.

(Which is better than we usually get)

Just don't scream LEEEEEEROOOOOOYYYYY NNNNJEEENNNKIIINS while running at monsters, and I think you should be fine.
