Akiva here, I'll be NPC'ing, I'll probably be a Giant to these little kids. I just want to give them a wonderful Larp experience :D
 
Ok, so we had planned to hit up the gettysburg event, but we can't make it due to lack of babysitting. We'd like to come to this event with our daughter -- but she's 3 and a half. Is there anyway we can bring her to play (she's VERY advanced for 3.5) and she'll be sure to have awesome costuming (;)). Since there is such a small number of kids coming - will this be an issue?

If we can come, what are the weapon/skill rules we should worry about? What skills should she have (besides following rules and listening)?

I'm fine with it. You know the site well enough and more importantly, your child and if you think she can handle it, I trust you. :) Totally glad you guys can make it!
As for weapons rules, I think it's probably best to have her be more page level. She can certainly spar, but I'd like to keep her out of melee. It's more a concern of her getting run over due to her size. (Hey, it happens to us big kids at regular events!)
I set up a board on FB that has a copy of the rules posted to it. I'll try to find you there and add you to it.

ill be bringing gryffin to the kids event , he hasnt made the last 2 because i lived in chicago. he cant wait to get back to playing
 
I'm not sure if it'll just be me coming or if Dustin will be there too -- he's still trying to find someone to ride with from Albany to Gettysburg...

But if he does, one of us will hang with Brynne & the other will NPC. I assume we should be costumed up as our characters if we're following our kids around? :)

Yeah, I know... but there was no note in the registration email so I just put the name of the adult in there figuring someone would let me know the right name... :)
 
Heya FYI - Keith Rifflard is the adult and his son is Dylan Rifflard. :-)

I'll hopefully be pre-regging later today for my kids too. :-)

I posted this on the FB board, but wanted to do so here as well. If there's any allergy issues that we need to be aware of, please let us know. Especially with food, as we are planning on not only meals, but also a party on Saturday night.

What are we doing for supper on Saturday? I have a ton of tomatoes in my garden that I need to turn into spagetti sauce. I could bring them and some spagetti noodles and 3 lbs of meat and cook spagetti?

I think we normally do pizza though.
 
WHo am I to turn down sauce from home grown tomatoes?? :thumbsup:
I think it's a great idea and maybe do meatballs separate so that there's vegetarian option. I can bring some salad stuff too. (Anyone else remember the story Stone Soup?). We can always order a couple of pizzas for those who won't/can't eat the spaghetti. (Kids are kids after all... mine love to surprise me with the ever changing list of foods that they won't eat)
Also, are we ok with paper plates for this event? I wouldn't suggest it if it were a regular event, but I think we do enough kid dishes at home, don't we? :P
