Prosthetics and masks

For my secondary character, a wylderkin, I'm bouncing between two ideas. One of the major issues that decides the question is the issue of prosthetics and masks. The first option, a rottweiler-kin, I can simply order a prosthetic from Northfurs. The second option is a little more difficult, as it is a horsekin. I know someone who played a Zebrakin, but the player didn't use anything to simulate the face.

Has anyone played a horsekin before that can give me some tips?

Has anyone used some of the long-nosed Northfurs prosthetics like the horse or bear, and how have they stood up to combat?

Has anyone used a mask to simulate that kind of face, and was the mask being knocked askew a problem? How about peripheral vision?

Look on page 22 of the rule book. That is a Horse-kin. Oh, and she has a long horse tail which you can't see.

Her role play was punctuated by pawing at the ground (or should I say, hoofing at the ground).

As you can see, there is a lot of latitude in how you phys rep any kind of kin you can imagine. Role play is a large part of playing a kin.

My brown bear naps a lot, lumbers around, is solitary, sleeps in a "cave", doesn't run away from danger, attacks when threatened ...

You get the idea.

I have used northfur's short nosed masks before. The guys there are great. The one problem I have with using their prosthetics is that having your nose mostly closed off causes for a great degree of 'precipitation'

I switched to leather half-masks for my third character (Huskykyn). The peripheral vision is fine, it's not too bad when people hit you in the face, they stay well fitted to your face, and you don't have to worry about paint deteriorating the mask. I have also made a half-mask for a moose NPC we had, where the muzzle juts out 6-8 inches from the face and the ears were attached.
Here's a link to what the masks look like:

For the Rottie, I'd suggest Kangena, I think their beast mask is a lot cooler looking than North Fur's dog nose and about the same price with shipping to the US.

I asked some people who had used longer nosed masks in combat, and they said that they held up to the inevitable blows decently, however those were masks, rather than prosthetics and made by a different manufacturer.

I saw these before. For myself, I have to wear glasses which makes masks a bit of an issue.
I really like the look of them though.

I have the same issue, I'm going to try contacts at the next event, unfortunately I'm allergic to most contact solutions, so it may be a problem.
