Question about Crossbows Physreps

Are there any guidelines around Crossbow Physrep shapes or anything like that?

I've only found a length requirement and foam type requirement.

Does it need a handle or the two limbs on the side?

I'm thinking about practicality when it comes to holstering it and the like.

Ultimately, that's going to be up to your local marshals, but I personally would require it to resemble a medieval crossbow (whether incorporating fantasy elements or not) in order to pass as one.

Normally, you want someone to be able to recognize it as a crossbow when they see it, so I'd say it would at least need the bow across the front.

Here's a pic of a crossbow I made for a Reed Dryad character of mine that was to look like it was made out of bamboo. It was just a straight shaft (no grip, shoulder stock, trigger, etc) and the bow. Interesting thing about it though, the trench in the center of the pipe insulation held packets really well.

There was even discussion of a wrist mounted crossbow recently
