question about strengthen and silvering

If I smith a dagger it costs 5 production points and 5 copper. if I smith a dagger on my second batch is costs 5 production points and 10 copper.

If I strengthen a weapon it costs 50 production points and 50 silver and how many copper? 50 copper?

If I strengthen a weapon on my second batch how much silver and copper does it cost? 100 silver and 100 copper or just 50 silver and 100 copper?

Is it the same philosophy for silvering?
 
Actually, it costs 5 production points for that dagger. Those 5 production points cost 5 copper on the first batch and 10 copper on the second.

Strengthening costs 5 gold and 50 production. Those 50 production cost 50 copper for the first batch and 100 copper for the second. The 5 gold cost and production point costs are fixed, it's just the copper cost for those production points goes up for each batch.
 
Because it sometimes gets missed, a reminder that you cannot carry production points from one batch into another. That means that if you have 50 production per batch, you cannot make anything that costs more than 50 production.
 
Yea strengthening isn't worth it unless you went full smith and I still may have the most ranks in it. You strengthen it and get 3 charges for what is alot of gold and production.
 
Strengthening can be useful on things like shields but in practice most of the Frontline Fighters I know of simply keep redundant shields among their gear.

This might be accurate if you can switch to an off-hand weapon until you can get back to your cabin and "replace" the shield, but just remember that you're only carrying two shields if you're carrying two reps.

indeed!... I was more implying their "Backpack" behind them becoming the redundant shield... That is what earth casters are for other than healing and in your case obliterating things right??
