Reminder: How info cards work in Denver, now with NEW STUFF

If you're a Denver veteran, you may skip to the section way below, labeled, "EVERYBODY."

If you're from out of chapter, or new to the game, read this section:
Alliance Denver places blue information cards around the campsite. They may be in or on buildings, or out in the woods if you go for a nature walk to explore our site. Look for them in the tavern, guild buildings, and among the cabins, too!

These are printed on blue letter-size paper, placed in sheet protectors. We aim to place them usually around adult eye level; they are not usually hidden. These will be easily within 1 mile of the center of activity of our "town."

If you see a card, you may read it. Each card gives a basic description of the scene in front of you, what everybody sees when they walk up. Each card lists certain requirements to get more information from the scene. Team Daedalus, our 2018 Acarthia Plot Team, utilizes PC Craftsman skills for these often. The requirement could also be your character's race, group affiliation, or even a roleplay experience. If it describes a roleplay experience, the interpreptation is up to you whether or not you qualify. Examples of these requirements might include things like:

Herbal Lore
Craftsman: Fortune Teller; Scout/Tracker; Baker
Wylderkin
Roleplay: You are from beyond the Mists, outside of Acarthia.

If you have the described requirement, flip the card over for seekrit information! If you don't meet the requirements, duh -- don't flip the card over just for funsies. That's cheating.

IMPORTANT: You are welcome to go find someone who meets the requirements, and bring them back to the card. How does your character know this? I don't know... make something up. We err on the side of FUN here, however. If the card says Tracker, and you're not a tracker, you may go find one.

A few of these may be mod cards, but the overwhelming majority ARE NOT;
they just provide information. Read the instructions on the card about whether to leave the card there, take it back to Monster Camp, trash it, whatever. Some have tags, and they'll be in the sheet protector; it will say in the instructions if tags should be there. Please don't remove the card unless instructed; you may be removing an opportunity for fun for other players later, and that's no bueno.

EVERYBODY
If you're reading about an encounter on a blue card THAT DOES NOT EXPRESSLY SAY THAT IT LEADS TO A MOD, then we intend this to be one-way information, and the scene is not intended to be interactive. Please do not come to Monster Camp asking to turn it into a mod on demand; we're not setup to accommodate that request. We have a busy event schedule planned out. Mod Cards which ARE intended to be run that way will say so explicitly. Thanks for your understanding.

NEW: WATCHTOWERS
Starting at the April 13-15 2018 Season Opener, Acarthia events will have special blue cards out at the New Acarthia Town Guard Watchtowers surrounding the town. From June onward, when we're at our permanent site, these will be in static locations, the same place every event. For April -- we're all winging it, so don't get too attached! If your character desires to walk out to the Town Guard Watchtowers to inquire of the scouts there what they've seen lately, you get special rumors, essentially, appropriate to that watchtower's area. Each watchtower has a specialty of the sort of traffic, or the exact monster types or specific tribes, that they see pass across their view. Some of this information is background, to inform you in general of the story from the woods and areas that surround New Acarthia. Sometimes you might get vital tips about troop movements, or even timing on upcoming field battles! There will always be general information, accessible by anyone who heads out there. Sometimes there may also be special requirements which provide bonus information, like a regular blue card.

Town Guard Watchtower cards will be placed further from town, on the outskirts of the range we expect PCs to travel during an event.

NEW: ORANGE CARDS FOR PAGES
Starting at the April 13-15 2018 Season Opener, Alliance Denver events (including National in May) will have special ORANGE cards just for our young pages. The requirement to view them is that your character has page status. (This is intended for younger players, not medical non-combatants.) These will be placed closer to the center of the site, and at a lower eye level for our young page players, in locations that we hope are not too challenging to find. They will contain age-appropriate story elements, educational pieces about the game, maybe small but fun puzzles, and sometimes very important hints and information about the story of the weekend that will enable our young heroes to play their role in important defense of the town! We hope our gamer families enjoy this new element, and we're eager for your feedback about how this goes.

Happy adventuring, and we look forward to another great season with you!

To set expectations for completionists for the April event, there will be 4 Watchtower cards.

Each of them will have an ORANGE card for young pages next to it that gives story information. The Watchtower card information for pages may be more interesting for pages around age 9+, or super smart kids who engage in complex portions of the story. I have zero idea whether the longer walk out to the Watchtowers is appropriate for little kids since I was raised by lazy non-walkers myself ;) But if you want to go that far, there's a card waiting at each watchtower for them!

BUMP! Just a reminder to all players in the Denver chapter about how this works... although not with any alleged "New Stuff" for the Thursday-Sunday, October 11-14 2018 event.

There will be no orange cards with page content for the October event, as we are not aware of any underage PCs registered.

There are nearly 40 blue cards in and around the town, however! An average weekend presents about 25, so there will be a lot! We hope you enjoy your nature walks.

There are no Town Militia Watchtower cards for this event. Frankly, we just couldn't even.

Thank you, and enjoy!!
