((This is an In Game Post by a PC))
The Duchy of Passwall has been plagued with a widespread Curse of Undeath that affected a myriad of subjects. The necromantic source controlling the droves of undead has been dealt with, leaving many of those turned individuals in undead stasis. A group of adventurers has been seeking a way to restore the cursed population back to Life, and we invite others to join us in this undertaking.
I have oriented this missive to address first what is needed from this coming market for clarity and expediency.
Later on in the missive, I have documented further background details for deeper context for anyone who wishes to understand more.
It appears that this project will span a handful of markets, with this coming Gavaria being the first step of many. That being said, we have time to gather our resources and plan. In the grand scheme of this coming Market, we'll need to keep in mind that this particular set of tasks is of lower priority compared to the greater priority of the Strigoi War; nevertheless, we are hopeful that there will be an opportunity to pursue this work at some point. Please seek out any of the adventurers listed at the end if you would like to be more involved.
Our First Step will be to secure the Pearl known as a “Drop of Golden Sun”
Background Details:
A handful of us sought council from the Rosin Royal Court Healer Veronica Silver for advice on how to help the innocents of Passwall trapped in Undeath. She guided to consult a deceased expert on grand ritual magics, the late Court Wizard Nathaniel Muroe.
Regarding the Effects of "Call to Ages Past"
Veronica Silver provided us a copy of the New Dragon Script “Call to Ages Past,” and our summoning Nathaniel was the first casting of the ritual in Gavaria.
Nathaniel appeared to us in his prime- a handsome Biata in his early hundreds wearing regalia that was indicative of his total station as a Courtwizard. Unlike Spirit Farewell, which narrows the scope of the Spirit's knowledge of what happened to them, how they passed on, etc, Nathaniel was well aware, and was able to comment and converse as he wished about anything and everything that involved him directly. He was in full command of his faculties, and was under no apparent compulsion to divulge information if he chose not to, and was capable of being playfully coy or enlisting subtext insinuation to guide our thoughts. It was as though he were sitting there before us, just having a helpful dialogue. Truly fascinating magic!
Regarding the Knowledge and Wisdom Provided
The Archivist shared with us precious details about how he and his team of mages were able to free Lennea from the Curse of Undeath once it had been made propitious to do so; this innovative method that Nathaniel engineered was a separate mystical undertaking from the phenomenon involving Oris' horn. The piece of the Watcher that was absorbed into the land of Meltith untwisted the magics so that other magics could take effect. Once that grander impediment was removed, other magics, such as the one that Nathaniel enacted, could then be used.
The Atishan Court Wizard's formula involved Two Potent Catalysts:
The First suitable item that Nathaniel researched and hunted down was a specimen called a "Drop of Golden Sun". This specimen is a brilliant and lustrous Pearl of golden hue that has the ability to absorb sunlight and healing energy. To his knowledge, Nathaniel found only one place in Gavaria where such a jewel could be sourced- in the maw of a powerful creature called "The Great White Lord," a giant oyster who served Risunus and lives in the depths of deep oceanic Trench off the coasts. The creature allegedly is able to produce a pearl of suitable size and luster once every few decades, and is loath to part with it. Nathaniel had to fight and subdue the creature in order to obtain the first pearl, and noted that it had impressive defenses of all kinds. He and his team had to employ the "Aquatic Adaptation" rituals that one of his peers developed so that they could navigate the deep pressures, lack of air, and impaired movement of the submarine Trench.
Regarding Next Steps:
At this point, we now have a somewhat clear path ahead of us if we hope to free those trapped in Undeath in Passwall, but it will require much collaboration and planning by many minds and hearts:
We welcome and request for others to be involved! Please let us know if you have any questions.
With Respect and Gratitude,

A Summary Tasks for this Market 11.15
It appears that this project will span a handful of markets, with this coming Gavaria being the first step of many. That being said, we have time to gather our resources and plan. In the grand scheme of this coming Market, we'll need to keep in mind that this particular set of tasks is of lower priority compared to the greater priority of the Strigoi War; nevertheless, we are hopeful that there will be an opportunity to pursue this work at some point. Please seek out any of the adventurers listed at the end if you would like to be more involved.
Our First Step will be to secure the Pearl known as a “Drop of Golden Sun”
- We know that Nathaniel found the Pearl in an aquatic creature known as the Great White Lord, who lives in the depths of a marine trench, but we don’t know the exact location of that trench, or if the creature has moved since.
- At Market, we’ll need adventurers to seek out a Scholar or Historian among Gavaria’s intellectual community who could guide us.
- Also, if we are to face the great Bivalve, we will need to be able to use our full range of skills below water under the great pressures of the depths; I’ve received confirmation that the usual protections offered by conventional Endure Elements ritual will not afford us this.
- Court Wizard Anivia Amberheart, known as The Tempest, wrote a dragonscript called “Aquatic Adaptation,” which allows underwater combat. We believe it can be replicated en masse as she did so when we fought Thomas Harper. The Celestial Society is speaking with her about the necessary requirements for it at this Market.
- Cupbearer Lorelai will be contacting the local government of Passwall to inform them of the undertaking and seek their approval.
- Ser Draco of Passwall and Weaver Dramthin are working to similarly inform and gain approval from the Royal Court of Gavaria in Rosen. There is also the matter of reacclimating the newly awoken if we are successful, and helping those innocents reclaim homes and property.

- There were some magical effects that seemed to allow us to call a specific individual during the ritual; according to the script, the spirit to be summoned would have been somewhat random but helpful, and influenced by the heritage of the caster.
- In this particular case, most likely because of Veronica's close association with Nathaniel, because of the adventures present who had worked with Nathaniel before, and because we were directly calling for him specifically during the ritual, Nathaniel was able to manifest despite none among us being Biata by heritage ((LCO Plot)).
- An object of power capable of storing thousands of units of Healing Magic to serve as a kind of battery for the Ritual Effect
- A magical item of near artifact potency ((20 Rit)) whose collective abilities are considered to be a paragon of "Defiance against Undeath, Chaos, and Necromancy." This magic item served as a conduit or lens through which the Ritual Magics would be channeled and emanated.
He and his team had to employ the "Aquatic Adaptation" rituals that one of his peers developed so that they could navigate the deep pressures, lack of air, and impaired movement of the submarine Trench.
- The Drop of Golden Sun had the ability to store and absorb magical healing from any source, and for the purpose of Nathaniel's ritual, it was imbued with 2000 units of healing, which was sufficient to create a zone of effect that covered a small county the size of Lennea.
- The specimen was consumed by the Ritual upon completion.
- The Magical Mace was consumed as part of the Ritual upon completion.
Regarding Next Steps:
At this point, we now have a somewhat clear path ahead of us if we hope to free those trapped in Undeath in Passwall, but it will require much collaboration and planning by many minds and hearts:
- We would need to form a team of adventurers to make preparations to secure a Drop of Golden Sun from The Great White Lord (which is the goal for 11.15)
- We have calculated how much healing is required to cover the land mass of Passwall at 14,000 healing motes. We will need to coordinate among the Town's healers to imbue the jewel with that much healing.
- The calculation was as follows: Lennea required 2,000 motes. According to a reliable map, Passwall’s geographical land mass is about 7 times the county of Linnea. 7 x 2,000 = 14,000.
- Now that Passwall is free from the Blood Haze and the Cauldron's influence, we have determined that The Divining Pool of The Valley is a suitable place of power for the Ritual to take place.
- Hearthguard O'Dell has generously donated his mighty shield to the cause.
- We would need to determine and confirm what ritual(s) we might employ to serve as the framework for the Grander Ritual effect. It is almost certain that a Gift of Life ritual would be needed, but we have discussed including a Bountiful Harvest Ritual to help increase the range of the high magics ( in addition restoring the polluted land), and an Illumination Ritual to connect the high magics to the purifying powers of Gavaria’s Sun. We would then need to then source the dragonscripts and reagents required.
- We will need to source a Gift of Life Catalyst. We have a lead for one from a being named Bumble; he usually is willing to part with one for a favor.
- We are following proper procedure to inform the Crown of Gavaria and Seat of Passwall of our undertakings out of due respect and deference (which is the goal for 11.15).
- Lastly, we should make sure we document our undertakings well for the sake of Passwall's sibling, Meltith, and see if anything of what we do here will be of use to them there by way of insight or adaptation in their current plight.
We welcome and request for others to be involved! Please let us know if you have any questions.
