Here's the scenarios I'd like to present.

1) Eddy the Vampire has the strength to rip free of Pin, but nothing beyond. Eddy strides into Andar, looking for a meal, but is double-tapped for a Pin & Bind by an Earth caster who really doesn't like the cut of his jib. Can Eddy rip Pin, even though he cannot break a Bind, or is he stuck?

2) Eddy the Vampire has aged considerably, and has partaken in the blood of a thousand older Vampires, giving him significantly greater strength. He can now rip Confines. He again strides into Andar, wishing to avenge himself upon that Earth caster, who hits him for a Pin and a Bind again. Does Eddy need to rip each one individually, for a total of six seconds? Or will a single attempt break them?

3) Eddy is hit by a Pin. Eddy calls "I rip free one, I rip free two..."but is hit by a Web. Does Eddy continue to "I rip free three!" and break all of the bindings? Does he have to restart the entire count over again? Does he continue to "I rip free three!" but only successfully breaking the Pin, as he did not have a complete count for the Web?

4) Eddy is hit by a Confine. He's getting significantly annoyed at this point. He begins calling, "I rip free one, I rip free two..." but is hit by yet a second Confine. In question #3, if nothing is reset as all the effects are different (a Pin and then a Web), does -this- reset the count, as a Confine is being stacked upon a previous Confine?

This post is to inform you that your question is currently being discussed by the ARC and once some clarification has been made will be posted here. Depending on the level of clarification and discussion (and potential involvement of the Owners or other national staff, if needed) this may take time.

When a player begins their "Rip Free" count, that count applies to any and all binding effects that were present at the beginning of that count. They may only begin a "Rip Free" count if they are able to rip all binding effects that that "Rip Free" count would apply to.

Thus, to answer the specific questions asked:

1. He's stuck. He can't rip out of one of his things, thus he can't rip out of any (since you rip it all at once)
2. He rips free from both at once.
3. He can finish his count if he wants to (as it'll finish ripping the ones he started with), but will still be Webbed at the end of it so there's not a lot of point in doing so.
4. When he's hit by the second Confine, the first Confine is "overwritten" with the new one and, in effect, goes away. If he was not trying to Rip Free, the effect would be the same. Thus, he can finish his Rip Free count but it won't actually end up doing anything, since he's now got a new Confine to rip from. This *does* mean that he only needs to worry about Line of Sight for the second caster, since the first caster's Confine is overwritten as soon as the second one arrives.

Alliance Rulebook Page 96 said:
Identical effects do not stack. No person may have a second copy of the same effect active at the same time, whether caused by a spell or alchemy or any other source. Therefore, you cannot have both a Poison Shield active from a spell and a Poison Shield active from an elixir. ... The newest identical effect will always override the older ones. This resets the duration of the effect if it had a timed duration.
