Hey, I haven't posted anything in a while, but I just ran across something funny (Read: Sad and ridiculous) on the Nero boards. Here's the post by "Jclarke" (copy/pasted), titled "Possible Site Hack?" http://www.nerolarp.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1228

Your imagination has found a home!

When you’ve conquered all challengers in NERO LARP Games, you can then try to transfer your skills and luck into hard cash by playing some free casino games. http://www.casinotoplists.com/

Wasn't sure what this was all about. thought I should bring it to some one's attention so it doesnt get left unchecked as possible spam.

then again here

the theatrical skill they bring when playing the characters they created are very compelling. Of course, unlike poker games

havent looked any where else for more spam but I think this should be addressed incase of a security threat.

And THIS is Joe's response:

These are correct. There is no hack.
Joseph Valenti

He's begun scattering url links to gambling sites throughout the Nero Int'l web site. Considering the response from the players, he won't be making much money from it.

Joe Valenti. Classy guy.

God, I'm glad that I don't support that game anymore.

EDIT: Spelling errors. God knows that there's probably more.

I could be wrong, but I think that most of those that are here and play Alliance are perfectly happy with where we are and not really concerned about International or Valenti anymore.

While the enthusiasm for Alliance is good, there's nothing really to be gained by saying how much better we think we are then something else we have chosen not to be. No need buddy, but glad to hear it sounds like your happy with Alliance. :)

And here I thought this was going to be a music topic. Now you've gone and put Reel Big Fish in my head...

Sigh...You're right, of course. I work midnights, and when I saw this on their forum, I was simply struck with how silly it is and felt the need to tell SOMEONE. Ever since Joe threatened to sue a close friend of mine, I've been kind of bitter about it. In fact, when we were at Southeast Missouri State University back in 2001, I was the one who introduced him to Nero, and encouraged him to start a college club for it by contacting Joe. He did, and next thing you know Joe's got it plastered on the website encouraging students to start their own college organizations.

A couple years later, when my friend expressed interest in opening either an International or Alliance chapter, Joe called and threatened to sue him and anyone that supported him in his "illegal" activity. He'd completely forgotten who he was or the work he had already done for him in bringing Nero to SEMO, helping to get a Tennessee chapter up and running, and supporting the central Illinois chapter.

The last time I played Nero was almost 1-1/2 years ago. I've had a hard time moving on because I've been working 50-60 hours a week, and I haven't had a chance to try Alliance yet since I quit International. So my larping experience ended on a series of down notes because of this business and a few other problems with International.

Anyway, you're right. I apologize for the negativity of my original post, so let me end with this: I've been visiting these boards for several years now, and I've continued to be impressed with the difference in attitude between the two organizations' staff and players. You've got a superior rulebook and game policies, and I feel that my original game is about to break apart for a variety of reasons. Heck, it's hard enough just to compete with MMO's these days.

Even though I haven't played Nero in a while, I love larping and all social games, and I'm truly rooting for Alliance and it's players.

Cheers.

This may not interest anyone, but these are probably plain text links rather than affiliate links. In that case it doesn't matter if Joe's links send the casino any traffic - he gets paid regardless. The casino is buying the links to boost their search engine rankings more than for the direct traffic they might (not) receive.
