You think you are the only ones with the right to defend yourselves? You feel that your power is the only one to shield the likes of us commoners? How dare you get in my way, I had a way to destroy the void shard that would render us safe from all the threats that would make The vampires predations, the Usurpers betrayal, the brewing troubles in other countries, or the Rockfist Wars all things of the past, no more greed, no more danger every night, more order, more knowledge of things to come... no more shattered childhood dreams or lost farms because the heroes didnt get there in time...

I had no desire to hurt you, I avoided you and asked my followers not to square off against you or hurt others... I fought like mad to arrive before you but you are many and I am one. I know now, that peace with you is not possible, I practiced fighting with small constructs and defending my home against undead...not the likes of the Order of the Emerald Flame, The Defenders of Azure's Keep, The House of Games, Brotherhood of Lifestorm, or the Knights of Wayside...I never prepared to fight my friends, you didnt even remember me.... I remembered you though... and now so will he.

I sought to give you all the peace you claim to want. I was so close...this is a setback... I will not broker any more interference from you no matter how well meaning, you help, as many times, is too little too late.

Stay out of our way or be known as enemies.

Every sentient being has the right to protect themselves. I have seen many men and women young and old protect themselves. And I am glad to see the peoples of my new home have the courage and tenacity to fight off the influence of an ancient vampire. The strength to hold fast against invades from lands to the north, and then the openness to accept those into their homes. I too share the dream of peace between all peoples and acceptance across cultures.

But, I can not see how allying yourself with a creature such as Igeno Hex will accomplish those goals. He is a creature that has devoured other realms. I have spoken to the survivors now refugees of his destruction. Loosing ones’ home is a fate that I would not wish upon my greatest enemy, and I understand your motives. Believe me; I was there when Void unmade my home. I would have done anything to prevent Dragon Reach from being removed from existence. I could do nothing to prevent the fate of my home. I have learned that asking such a creature who is so far removed from mortality can not understand what we need, nor does such an entity have the ability to change it’s baser nature. He is of Flame and Chaos. It is within him to be entropy embodied.

Please reconsider, this action. It is not too late to heal, to repair the damage that has been done.

Protect yourself? Protect your fortunes and ill gotten gains you mean. How many homes burned in your war how many will burn when the Elves, the Empire, or even the Northlunds decide the time has come to snap wayside back to their jaws? How shortsighted you all are... the peace you won was temporary and fragile and even nnow, my lord knows the end of that peace is near... I can see the future through his eyes and I see no peace, no rest, and no victory yet in sight.

You see this as stopping war, I see it as an end to all famines. Yield to me and live forever under a new lord, fight me and face the same punishments that faced the people of that village, he is a giving lord but a hard lord... can you not see its best to give in? that your already losing? Look what his brother did with a goblin? a goblin infused of lightning claimed more than 10 of your lives, your whole town would have been destroyed by the Lady of Poisons had it not been for a wholy unneeded sacrifice, how many times can you tap that resources Regent Fallenstar?

How many resources do you still have? You father? gone, Your Pet Dragon? soon to be captured and repurposed. Your vast stores of coin? dwindling everyday. The faith the people of wayside entrust in you? spent on mistakes that cost lives. Your fellow Knights? Once is layed up recovering for months by my Lord's brothers doing, the Other grows tired and jaded, weak and incapable of that which made her a Knight in the first place... your almost out of time...

So I ask you this, Fallen-Star... what have you got left to counter my Lord?
 
Liddia does not stand alone horse lord, there are those of us who are learning what it means to take an active hand as she does in protecting the town. I will not allow you, or your master, to corrupt this land or it's people. The adventurers in town might suffer, might encounter loss, but they will not give up what they know to be correct, nor will their leaders.

Enan! you were my friend... well at the least you stood for me once... you knew what it meant to not have the tools to take down every threat that comes to your door... you allowed yourself to get sucked into their ideas.... this is the better way, you know it is...
 
You are right, I tend to be the last one to raise a call to battle if we can avoid it, but your master's methods are dangerous and callous in his coming and I hold no hope for it to be better should we allow him to arise. His actions so far, to empower the goblin tribe, have cause massive amounts of damage to our economy and ability to feed ourselves, not to mention costing lives. I do not wish to fight, I prefer to enjoy the comforts of life instead when able, a fair faced companion, a warm bed, and a hot meal, but there are things that cannot be ignored, such as chaos, or any other force that would corrupt the very fabric of our land. I may not be a seasoned adventurer, but I am learning what it is to take personal responsibility to protect my home and you would be wise to remove yourself as the instigator of my learning. My personal strength is lacking, this is true, but I will shelter and bolster those who stand against you and give them safe harbor from your master's storm for as long as I am able. There is unfortunately no short cut to a happy and balanced life, I have learned this in as harsh a manner as any this past week, do not let Ignohex enflame your desires with promises, the promise of a quick solution ends in great pain, I can attest to this myself.

I had hoped that we could parlay. I still believe that there may be parlay between us, and that we can remove you from It’s grasp.

I also admit that my resources do appear to be not as great as they once were. My Father took responsibility and died as he lived. He took it upon himself to save all of Fortanis. It does not bode well to speak ill of such a great man; who not only saved my life; but all life on this plane. You should show his memory more respect.

Celestial is not my pet. He is my son. And any who would try to wipe his mind, or try to repurpose him should think twice before they speak such words. He is a child. To use a child to serve one’s own selfish desires is one of the greatest evils anyone can commit.

The spirit of those who will give up all for their home, not just those adventures that fight on the front lines. But, all who have helped defend themselves.

You may destroy my body.
You may shatter my spirit.

But, my strength is not solely within me. My strength is the strength of all those who stand beside me. We are strong together, and we will not be defeated by anyone or anything that tries to destroy our homes, our lives, and our very existence.
I may die over and over again, but, I will not let the thing that you gave your free will over to. To come to Wayside and sew entropy, chaos and distruction.
