software for mixing music

A question for your software guys.

For years I have been using Roxio 6 for burning CDs, because it allows me to mix the songs, fading one into another, adjusting volume levels and so on.

For some reason, it keeps crashing on me now when I try to burn a CD. (I am now burning mp3s instead of wavs, should that make a difference?)

Anyway, with the new computers I have, I have Roxio 10 and Nero 7, but it appears that neither of them having any mixing capabilities of the same quality.

So:

1. Is anyone familiar with Roxio 6 that may be able to give me some advice?

2. If I am stuck without it, is there a good program out there that lets me essentially be the DJ mixing my CDs the way I want to?

i don't know much about the software itself or it's capabilities but i have had the same problem with burning before. try uninstalling and reinstalling roxio 6 if you still have the disk. if not, or if that doesn't work, it may be the cd burner itself. most of the burners i have owned only last a few years and then begin to degrade in performace and then quit all together. it can make the software crash when it's actually the hardware having the problem. if you can burn cds in other applications without a problem though then it's probably not the hardware.
