Spell Column Building

There has been some lengthy discussion and not a clear consensus on how you can continue to build a spell column when you decide to go out.

The question is, are you allowed to have a gap of 2 spells horizontally in any place in or outside a four column. or are the only ways you are allowed to have a gap of two spells inside the four column in the following ways. 4-4-3-1 or 4-4-3-2 or 4-4-2-1 or just 2.

Or would you be allowed to build out like the following. 6-6-4-4-3-2-1 or 5-5-3-2-1 or 9-9-7-6-5-4-4-4? Furthermore is there only allowed one gap of 2 spells horizontally or would you be allowed to build the following. 8-6-4-2 or 6-6-4-2?

So if you have an 8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 pyramid can the next spell you get be a ninth 1st level spell. Or must it be a fourth 6th level spell? Then allowing you to buy back downwards towards your ninth 1st level spell.

Or would you be allowed to build out like the following. 6-6-4-4-3-2-1 or
5-5-3-2-1 or 9-9-7-6-5-4-4-4? Furthermore is there only allowed one gap of 2

A: You may have only one 2-spell wide gap within a pyramid, and it may not occur
beyond a 4-wide width as described in the rulebook on page 50.
