Spell crafting and reagents

Lets say someone prepares to spellcraft ritual X at logistics. The rulebook states that the reagents and scroll are turned in, but that the scroll (and maybe reagents?) are needed at time of casting.

Lets also say they never cast the spellcraft.

What happens to the reagents? Does the character get them back and/or not lose them? Or are they lost because the character turned them in to prepare the spellcrafting?

The components are expended and lost regardless of whether or not the Spellcraft is actually cast.

Think of it this way: the components are consumed during the preparation process, not during the casting process. You consume a component to have the ability to spellcraft a particular scroll, and if you don't end up spellcrafting the scroll, the component still stays consumed.
