Well now there is! The Boy Scout council Spring Popcorn Sale!
This year SoMN Alliance will be participating in the Northstar Boy Scout Council Popcorn sale. We are members of the council as a Venture crew and that gives us access to our awesome campsites at great rates that help keep costs low. By participating in the sale, we’ll be earning money for the council, money for the chapter, and money for you, the player!
I’m sure by now you’re saying, “Well Paige that all sounds great, but how exactly does it all work?”
I’m so glad you asked! You will take orders for popcorn on a handy Popcorn order sheet, which you can either download here as a pdf http://www.paigetech.org/popcorn.pdf, pick up from myself or David G, or get at any SoMN events through mid-April.
Here’s the breakdown:
Your Neighbor Sally Q. would like popcorn!
She tells you what she’d like, you write it down with her name, address and phone/email so you can get in touch with her.
She writes a check to Alliance Southern Minnesota.
You submit her order with all the others that you’ve created, either via mail, email or carrier hobling.
David and I pick up a giant amount of popcorn for everyone’s sales and have it all sorted out by our spring event.
You pick up said popcorn and deliver it to Sally Q, your happy hungry customer!
You then enjoy being able to use your 35% commission* from the sale to pay for events, memberships, supplies and more at SoMN.
You’ll also enjoy the prizes you’ve earned along the way!
“What’s that about prizes?” you say.
Prizes are as follows, they are cumulative, meaning if you earn up to a higher level, you also earn all the ones below it.
150 Dollars in sales: 100pts of production items of your choice!
300 Dollars in sales: 10 levels of spells on one times-ever magic item, excluding 9th level spells. (i.e. you could get 1 item with 5 times ever magic armor.
500 Dollars in sales: Choice of one of the following Skill Store magic times (LCO) -
Item One - Once ever Eviscerate, twice ever Slay
Item Two - Once ever Dodge, twice ever Evade
Item Three - Once ever Terminate, twice ever Assassinate
1000 Dollars in sales: Monthly Blankets for one calendar year!
Top Seller: This will only be given to the player who sells the most! Your choice of either an appropriately sized Arcane Armor, or a weapon with the carrier of your choice (i.e. +0 Damage aura to be able to swing “magic”)
Among the many awesome gift tins and buckets you will see on the sales sheets is one majorly awesome option you have! People can choose to donate at the 25$ or 40$ level to the Military. The Boy Scouts will then send popcorn overseas and all around the world to hungry soldiers!
Now the nitty gritty stuff. Your commission will be 35%* on everything you sell. Approximately 30% goes to the boy scouts, 5% to SoMN Alliance to help keep the game running and costs low and the rest covers the cost of the product. Your commission will be held in a bank account which you may draw from to cover any payment you might need to make to SoMN. You can also use this money for Larp related supplies by letting us know in advance, or submitting reciepts after the fact!
*Goblin Stamp Option: If you choose to participate in the sale, but do not need the money as a player, you may choose to donate it to the chapter. Your 35% will then be converted to goblin stamps for you at a rate just 5 stamps per 1 dollar, getting 2 goblin stamps for every dollar in sales. This is up from our normal 3/1!
