Dear Grim et al,
Here is what I know about the Stoneborn. Grim, are you writing an addendum to the book on trolls in the healer's guild?
There are five Stoneborn siblings: Irak, Gulak, Varishik, Acedik, and Supek. They were enslaved lesser beings until a Biata Homestone was partially broken (in an attempt to recreate the cauldron born, because some adventurers had destroyed the troll's cauldron years back). Now they are beings of great power, with some knowledge gained from the Homestone.
Gulak spent the most time among us at the last gathering. She has a green face and long hair, and a symbol on her face (someone fill this information in for me). She is only interested in power, and was helping us to weaken her siblings in order for her power to grow. When asked "what will you do with the power" she says "gain more power." She views friendship as silly and war as inevitable. There is some question what she will do if her siblings are all gone. Gulak is connected with the other trolls via a dream, in which she was able to bring several of us in disguised as trolls. In the first dream, Lennox contacted the Duke and brought him closer to coming back to understanding who he was (unfortunately this consisted of him remembering that he is the Duke and commands an army...). In later dreams we battled certain classes of trolls by taking on the forms and skills of various trolls for the dream, losing our own. She was unable to disguise us twice, nor to make us speak troll (we could understand what the trolls in the dream were saying, however); her power was strengthening over the weekend, so she is likely capable of more now. In her last dream she took a fire elemental (EDIT: which happened to be in town visiting Guildmaster Westwind) into the dream, who was reportedly very upset at being outside of her body in a cold cavern, and rifted out as soon as she returned from the dream. In all the dreams we had to be especially careful, as a killing blow will kill your body, while a normal bleeding out will merely wake you; thus we were able to weaken certain troll factions by cutting off heads in the dream. She considers herself "as much biata as she is troll" now. Lennox spoke with her more than I did, and we are both hoping that she learns friendship.
Supek (or was it Irak?) also spent some time among us at the gathering, but less time. I believe I recall hearing that he is interested in besting his siblings Irak, Varishik, and Acedik, so that he can have control over all the trolls. He also brought some adventurers into a different sort of dream toward the end of the gathering, in which apparently we could take protectives (I cast two "Poison Shields" on people before entering the dream).
Varishik and Acedik are somewhat working together, though they each control their own groups of trolls. Varishik's trolls don't like messing around: they reportedly won't waste time with killing blows if there is other fighting to be had. We encountered Varishik in one of the dreams, who quickly brought several of us down with blows stronger than a cure critical wounds can heal. She has a black face, with a symbol of a circle and a wavy line beneath it. Acedik's trolls practice necromancy; we don't have much more information about them. He is reported to have a symbol of some lines on his face. I believe that Varishik's and Acedik's trolls sometimes intermingle, as we overheard an argument over the pros and cons of necromancy in the dream. Acedik controlled the duke. We had planned to target Acedik's trolls, to weaken his faction.
Irak (or was it Supek?) was also encountered in one of the dreams (not one which I was in). He leads his own faction of trolls, but I don't have much further information. He took down several adventurers with lightning, comparable to a dragon's breath.
This is all based on my imperfect memory, so please correct my errors or fill in my gaps in knowledge.
Sincerely,
Sornelintion Swifteagle of the Ash Forest.
(EDIT: I was incorrect about which troll was named Gulak, and have fixed this. I am still uncertain about Supek vs. Irak)
