Templar Build Discussion

Getting a feeler on this build, because yeah, I wanna.

Unless I'm missing something, this -should- total out to 265 Build as a Templar Kyn.

Claws (8)
R/W, First Aid, HA (10)
4/4/4/4/4/4/4/3/1 (97)
Formal E - 5 (20)
OHEdged (7)
Prof - 5 (90)
Style Mastery (15)
Parry x 2 (10)
Riposte x 1 (6)

I picked up a 4th 7th because I wanted a 3rd 8th. Also, I figure I can do x4 Destruction to help offset my relatively low damage, or x4 Confine for crowd control.

Also, I don't know where I want to go from here, either. I'm thinking either more formal, more spells, or R/M (2nd level Celestial).

Input is awesome.

Just so you have your planning accurate: Claws cost 8, not 6.

Blah, thank you. I used Jimmy's builder, so the math should still be accurate.

Riposte is a terrible skill for defense. It is really a offensive skill in hiding. Anything worth riposting like a slay, evis, assassinate, terminate means they also have ripostes. You need it to push your slays etc through other ripostes. So I would say skip it.

I have that exact tree for spells. For the 3rd cure mortal. Honestly I wish 7th had any kinda defensive or healing spell. I take charms and destroys alot just for utility. Charm as a ghetto awaken. And Destroy to avoid the selling/mutilation of corpses. With the smaller tree it can be hard to make anything stick.

Also just to say it. Don't do it! Who will cast our earth rituals in Seattle!

Eli.

Bwahahaha.

Formal. If only to augment your healing. Yeah its terrible for the amount you get, but if you want to use your healing slots for other non-healing spells this can start to off set it.

I was considering Formal, but not for Healing (also, you get more healing out of a column. 7 Formal gets you 105 Healing for 28 Build, a column costs you 30, and gets you 67 per day, or 60 plus Magic Armor and X 1st level spell.

I was considering it for Magic Augmentation Purify.

Ehh past 5 formal is just not worth it with 1x 9th level spell, imo. A per day purify is 99% as good as augmented. If you plan to be in the front lines, parrys (spell parries) are huge.

Yeah. Let's definitely not talk about my second racial.

Yeah... can we get a race change for all of us to change our "family" racial to resist poison? lol

You mean your Slay? :D

Whooops I talked about it.

Resist Poison? Heeeeck naw. Resist Magic. Because Fae.

Resist magic is good once per day. Might as well pick up 2-3 resist poisons because they happen more often. Also much more story appropriate being Raccoonkin. :P

I would go small spells. CLW, Disarm and Magic Armor are all strong effects from a bang-for-your-buck standpoint and as first and second level spells are all exempt from the hybrid tax, filling out as a pyramid gives you more stuff to do per build spent at a better comparative rate than a scholar. Being able to read scrolls just helps round out your always helpful skill set.

Alternately, grabbing Alchemy 3 is another good way to add some on demand offense to a very defensive base.

I still don't understand how you guys ended up with slay... Aren't most of you casters? And I think dodge makes alot more sense anyhow. Racoons are nasty fighters irl, but never seen them 1 shot anything:P

Plot required us all to take the same racials. And it's only the three of us as we are the only 3 that are actually family. One fighter, one rogue, one caster. The rest thought better about their choices.

"The rest had more experienced players with which to make their decisions with," is what he means.
