Too Far from any Chapters!!

Hi everyone,

My friends and I recently discovered LARP in general and Alliance as well. We bought the rulebook and want to start playing but there are no chapters anywhere near us (we all live in the Yukon Territory :S) We noticed that in the front of the book that it says that you can only use the rulebook to play official Alliance games and that use of the rulebook in games where admission is taken is prohibited. Would it be possible to start a non-chapter game where no admission is taken? We know we won't be able to take the characters to other chapters, we just want to play.

If you want to write
an adventure module for your own group to
have, that’s fine—but it cannot affect regular
plot. In other words, your character can go on
an adventure where he gets 15 magic swords,
becomes 33rd level, and rules the world, but
when he shows up on the next Alliance adventure,
none of it has happened. (“Gee, it was all
a dream!”) Go ahead, use our rules, we don’t
mind (as long as you don’t charge admission,
advertise, or present yourself as an official Alliance
LARP game).

I'm pretty sure you're in the clear, so long as you don't charge admission or claim to be a real chapter. Also, hi!

I think that what you want to do would be more than welcomed by the owners of the game, seeing as you are bringing the game to your area and helping it grow.

If you really get into it and get a good grasp of the rules, I would say do a little traveling and try to get out to some of the active chapters events and maybe you could start a chapter in your area.

It is important that you charge NOTHING -- not even charges to cover your costs (such as renting a site) because, after all, that's all most of the other chapters do. I would also not do anything that might make people think you're an official chapter -- no web page or anything. Just a group of friends having a good time in a public park or someone's back yard.

Maybe if you end up getting enough people, you may decide to start an official chapter after that so you can cover expenses!
