Trying to find a chapter near me

Trustin

the closest city to me is Glens Falls NY. I would love to join a chapter but the nearest one I am finding is 2 hours away south of me and I just don't have the time to spend on the road getting down there except myabe events. My number at home is 518 636 5864 if anyone can be of assistance to me in this matter it would be much appreciated.

Ironically, we used to run events at a camp not far from Glens Falls, up in the mountains of the Adirondacks in a place called (seriously) "Athol"...

Sorry there's nothing closer... probably your best bet is the new Catskills chapter. It'll be worth the drive, trust me! And as for not driving except for events.... well, that's all there is!

Honestly in my experience 2 hours is a pretty close chapter drive. Many people drive much farther than that regularly. As MikeV said, its worth it. :)

Looking at your location, there is also a chapter 2 hours east in Claremont, NH.

Hope to see you at an event this year!

To give you some perspective, last season I drove 5 hours to the NH chapter. It is definitely worth it. I am sure the Catskills chapter will be worth it as well. Hope to see you there!

I love road-tripping. It's part of the good times for me. I have an ex I used to visit every two weeks in Jersey when we were together. It's about a four-five hour drive. I didn't mind.

If you check out the Crossroads website...they are willing to pick up and return people to the nearest train station and what not...so there is the option of taking a train or bus down and not having to worry about driving... just thought I would throw that out there..

Trustin,

Just got your voice mail, we were out of town for the weekend. I'll try to give you a shout tomorrow night, or feel free to call us back during the day.

It's an easy drive from Glenns Falls to Clairemont, NH -- a straight shot on US 4. I've driven a large part of that road, and it's easy traffic on an easy road.

A very large portion of the East Coast Alliance folk drive two to three hours to get to a game. When the Caldaria game changing ownership, I would drive three hours west to PA from Central Connecticut, and before that (before Caldaria moved to Easter CT) I would drive over two hours to Northcentral MA.

So, whether you go to the Crossroads (NY) game and/or the Deadlands (NH) game, it is definitely worth the drive -- the people who play there and the people who manage there make for some great LARPing. They definitely welcome new folks and will make you feel at home in no time.

I don't how direct or how frequent the public transportation is to Clairemont, but as it is a straight shot along US 4, I would expect that there is at least one bus line that makes the trip on a several times a day basis - go down to the bus station in Glenns Falls and ask -- or look it up online.

As far as a bus to Crossroads -- you might have to make a change in Albany, but I am sure that you can find public transport south to where you can get a ride to game.

There's a train station not far from where the Crossroads campsite is, and we're planning on making runs to it to pick people up :)
